Being a Libertarian, I don't think there should be any limits on the price of Super Bowl tickets. If people are willing to pay $10k for a ticket - let them. But on the other hand these rules have been in place for a long time, players can not sell their Super Bowl tickets at a profit. So now, they will have to pay fines for their wrongdoings, and if they don't pay the fines they will be suspended.

Players have been doing that forever. The bigger problem is ticket agencies like Ticketmaster, who buy all the tickets to an event for face value and then scalp them for a fortune, There's no way to get around these bloodsucking leeches these days. They're more corrupt than insurance companies. When football players scalp their allotted tickets, it should be considered a vig. When ticker agents do it, it's classless grand larceny.

Ah, but there is a way around it. Don't buy the tickets.

Sure there is. Just don't go. In the 1970s, I saw top draw groups in top tier seating in major venues for $6.50 a seat---

That equates to about $40.00 today. Any more than that, and someone is making an extra buck on you. Remember, they were making a nice profit at $6.50 back in the 70s--- the band, the manager, the venue--- everyone made a profit.

If people weren't such chickenshits and didn't subscribe to these insane ticket prices now, companies like Ticketmaster could not survive.

If they give the ticket to a family member and that person sells it for $10,000, why shouldn’t the player be allowed to sell at market price?

If NFL players were earning $7000 a year, and needed the money, I could see it.

But it seems a bit miserly to use this to seek a profit, don't they have nephews or friends or someone who would be thrilled to ******* go?

What torques me are games being on Amazon Prime now.

13 Thursday night games, a black Friday game, and a wild card game for 2025 season.

Why does it irritate you so much? There are plenty enough games on free TV for most people to get their fill of football already, no? Back in the day, a game or two on Sunday afternoon, with many local games being blacked out and no one felt deprived.

I'd prefer not to support Amazon.

But yeah, no different from supporting the other major networks I guess. :eusa_wall:

He should be. Except that the collective bargaining rules say that he can't.
Therefore to do so, is just plain stupid. 100 of them got caught.

It's like, should Pete Rose been allowed to bet on baseball? Probably.
But the rules, posted in in every major league clubhouse, said NO GAMBLING.
And he got caught and he paid the price.

My question is why do the players sell these tickets in the first place when they clearly do not need the money considering what they already get just by being a player?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but how much are Super Bowl tickets normally? The lead guy and piano player of my favorite band actually talked about sports during their most recent podcast clip, and they said that they once encountered a scalper who was selling a Super Bowl ticket for $10,000. This was back in 1998. They begin talking about it at the thirteen-minute mark of this clip.

God bless you and Mark and Hobie and Madison always!!!

P.S. To me, scalpers are stupid for even scalping and not just because of the possibility of them getting busted for such activity, but because of how much money they ask for. At the end of the day, if they do get the ticket(s) off of their plate, how happy are they with whatever money they actually do get for it?

Scalpers have ruined sports, concerts, theater.

Before those tickets have even hit the market, they have bought them all up and then sell for exorbitant prices

Even Ticketmaster has massive markups before you can buy a ticket.

Again, you don't have to buy the tickets. I don't go to concerts unless I really like the band. I saw Joe Satriani last year (along with Steve Vai) and I am remembering the tickets were around $100 but Satch is my all time favorite so I was willing to pay. Most anyone else I wouldn't bother paying that much.

You can load up old concerts on youtube and watch for nothing!

I don't get that. How are scalpers able to garner access to tickets when they are not even made available to the rest of the public yet?

God bless you always!!!

I don’t know all their methods but suspect they use bots to flood the phone lines and web sites as soon as they open.
I also suspect they have connections to give them early access

Prices for concerts and sports events used to be affordable to working families.
Now they are reserved for the elite.

^^^ To me, anyone who gives early access to the scalpers should be fired if not arrested as well because not only does it gobble away tickets from real fans, but it makes them an accessory to the scalping process. They should go down just as hard if not harder.

God bless you always!!!

Nothing but thugs in the NFL, anymore. This kind of behavior is to be expected.
