The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has threatened to withdraw $73 million in federal highway funds from New York after an audit revealed that over half of the commercial trucking licenses issued by the state were issued to illegal immigrants. The audit, conducted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), sampled 200 CDL records, finding that 107 were issued unlawfully. The Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy, stated that this situation constituted a "dereliction of duty by state leadership" and that Governor Kathy Hochul must immediately revoke these illegally issued licenses. New York has 30 days to respond to these concerns. The state's DMV has denied the allegations, asserting that it complies with federal rules and has been verifying drivers' immigration status. The audit has prompted other states to take action, with California revoking 17,000 licenses due to similar issues.

Why haven't they pulled them like even CA did?
Hochul must hate road safety or she's getting kickbacks from the CDL mills that thrive in her state.
