DoorDash Customer Does NOT Leave a Tip and Had Coffee THROWN on the Ground

I know for a fact that isn't true because my son showed me how it works. He'd wait at home until he got his first request and it said right on the screen what he would be paid. He had the option to accept or reject and wait for another one.
The ammount up front does not include what the actually tip is. I know because I do DD part time a couple days a week just to earn some extra cash. Many times the upfront offers are so low that the driver will lose money when your fuel costs & your time are figured in, so drivers need to weed out the bad orders or they will actually lose money.

Because I’ve done 5000 jobs with Uber and I know plenty of folks in the industry. It’s a brutal industry…. the workers are treated like trash.

It’s upsetting to see somebody who is not in the industry make a non-informed post about it. Let their free speech prevail. I’m not some radical lefty that believes in canceling free speech let them say whatever they want. But the truth will prevail.

There is no anecdotal information going on here. Articles and links were provided. It is a fact that gig companies having engaged in tip pooling or outright stealing tips.

For people who are not in the service industry or the gig economy. They should understand that these topics can make the blood boil of folks have worked in the industry who have seen their pay go down drastically. Who have no benefits whatsoever. Who are treated like shit by customers. Who are fired for no good reason.

Ever happen to you in any of your 5,000 jobs? Also, look up anecdotal before you use it in a sentence again.

That is not the full picture. I’ve seen these orders. It will say this is the pay including tip and delivery time and everything, but even though it is saying that it doesn’t mean the order includes an actual tip.

Again this is one of many issues surrounding the gig companies. You can’t choose one issue. There are so many of them that we can all see that gig companies treat their workers like trash.
You're right. But another issue is that there are idiot gig workers who will accept any order even though the pay is so low that they're losing money. The platforms know this so they can continue to screw drivers with low pay.

Yes, this is of course a big issue. I think a lot of it has to do with companies taking advantage of new immigrants who come from countries where the wages are very low. So these folks are willing to accept garbage offers instead of declining them. And if every gig worker declined garbage offers, it would hurt the company and the company would be forced to do something about the low pay. The no tip customers also would be forced to probably start tipping.

So that’s a two-way street when it comes to companies with terrible policies for workers and no tipping customers. The more orders that are no tip that are declined means no tip Customers will have to wait longer for their food. Then the customers will realize they better start tipping instead of acting like a low class loser not tipping.

There are non-immigrants who accept low offers… but the fact is that many of our immigrants are coming from countries where the wage is very low so they will be more inclined to take low paying work. The point is it’s not immigrants fault it’s companies taking advantage of people like this.

There are also newbies who could be immigrant or non-immigrant who start with a gig company and they think they have to accept every order. But they don’t. They just don’t know any better.

Gig companies are very greedy. And yet they employ millions of Americans. This is what America is in 2024. No longer can you get a job at an auto or steel plan right out of high school and be set for life. Millions of Americans immigrants and non-immigrant are gig workers. They have no benefit package, no paid time off, and they are told by people not in this industry to shut their mouth and be happy with what they have.

gig workers pay is one of the most important issues in the modern era because it was the government that allowed these gig companies to set up shop in various states across the country. And the government should have oversight or there needs to be some kind of oversight into gig companies. It is a disgrace that workers are being deactivated due to false complaints.

There’s tons of videos on YouTube where customers lie about not getting their food and then the delivery driver gets fired. And then the customer laughs about getting free food.

What I am saying, here has been reiterated by many working-class people working for gig companies. But it’s all really a fantasy that life will improve for gig workers because probably no steps will be taken to rectify these issues by the government and certainly not by the CEOs of the gig companies. So it’s probably a moot issue. I think there’s quite a few reasons why it’s going to be tough for gig workers to receive benefits and fair compensation …a lot of it has to do with our changing climate in America. People are not willing to fight for what is right. A lot of folks are on drugs and happy to live a subpar life with no job or a low paying job playing video games all day doing nothing. As long as they have access to their iPhone and video games and drugs, they’re OK. in the past more Americans were willing to put in the fight for better pay. They were willing to do what it takes to improve their life.

Furthermore, I also used to work for Instacart. And it was a gold mine when it first started. I’m talking $30-$50 batch pay before tip. Instacart used to pay $.40 for every item that a shopper picked up for the customer. They got rid of that pace structure and now the structure is absolutely horrible.

Instacart went from paying $30 or more for a batch. Let’s say that there’s 100 items which would take quite a bit of time to shop for it used to be $.40 per item that’s $40 just for shopping the items not including the incentives for heavy items or something like that. Now Instacart is offering people $10 or less for shopping for 100 items. So an order, including batch pay and tip an Instacart is paying $20 or less when in the past it paid upwards of $100.

Now we know the response from people not industry or the greedy CEO of Instacart …

“shut up and be happy with what you have”
“Get a different job”

Points which will not rectify the issue. And this is something affecting both the left and the right. People on the right will complain about illegal immigrants or even immigrants in general. Some of these apps are reportedly employing illegals. Well right winger should address this issue if they care about American people. Because illegal immigrants and even immigrants are more likely to be unfairly treated by a greedy employer, which is going to lower their wage of regular Americans if a illegal, or a immigrant is willing to accept a garbage wage it’s going to bring down the wages of all of the workers.

Previously on Instacart, the shopper would shop for one customer at a time and make a nice middle-class wage. Now Instacart changed their policy to where most of the orders that they offer shoppers include the shopper having shop for three customers often at different stores to complete the job. Increasing the odds of making a mistake on an order and giving a customer the wrong item.

In 2019 Instacart was paying a fair middle-class wage to its workers. Now in 2024 five years later, they’re paying 50 to 75% less it is astonishing. Hard to imagine that in five years time to pay has decreased and the workload has increased. It’s a disgrace to our great middle class and country of the 20th century.

the US government has allowed gig companies to set up shop in America. Gig companies that employee millions of Americans with bad pay and no benefits.. So we have to ask are we going to live in a country where we continue to see a declining middle class or will things change.

Back in the 1950s, the government and regulatory commissions would work with steel and auto plants that employed millions of Americans. Those jobs are all gone. Those jobs preached pro American values, they were after all the industry that helped us win World War II and build our strong military. …we just don’t have the country that we used to I hope we get it back

Right wingers like to piss & moan about illegals taking jobs away from U.S. citizens. Well, maybe we should start throwing people in prison & making an example of those who are doing the hiring.

Hardly qualifies as a current event but it looks like he was a deadbeat who didn't pay for the coffee he ordered.

It is our countries fault for taking in more than we can acclimate at a time. We need to limit them based on our countries needs, not on their needs. We cannot survive if we are expected to provide, so called, Human rights to every person on the planet. Human rights, which keeps growing in definition to include everything to the point nobody has to work to survive, in theory.

It would be better if each store had it's dedicated "shoppers" who shop for all orders and then hands them off individually to delivery drivers.

If you aren't getting enough in wages get another job that pays better.
I second this. I have never expected anything more than what I am supposed to get for each hour that I work.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. This is how I look at certain things in life, the higher the expectations, the harder that it is only going to hurt should a fall take place at all later on.

I've been saying that for fifty years!!!! Knowingly hiring an illegal on slave wages should get backpay bill and either a large fine or time in a sweatshop!!

IF true the customer got what he deserved… very low class thing to not tip. And if he doesn’t have the money, he shouldn’t be ordering a doordash. Just like Pedro says in the video above if he’s broke then ask your neighbors if you could rake the lawn and earn some money… or do something to earn.

wait no fucks to give.webp

When I first started a couple years ago a lot of restaurants would package the orders & place them on a rack with the customers name for drivers to just grab & go. Most don't anymore because scum of the earth would walk in, steal the food order & haul ass. Nobody was wiser until the driver showed up & the order was gone.

I still see it, but the shelf is BEHIND the counter.
