The Democrats are celebrating the passage in the House that would require release of whatever materials exist in the Epstein case.

But that's not the end of it. The Senate has to approve it. Most indications are that it will pass there too.

But then the bill would go to Trump. Does he sign it or veto it?

President Trump has always been particularly good at saying whatever is necessary to get his opposition to spill the beans on whatever plans they may have, run around acting crazy and throwing shit at the walls, and eventually begging for their own demise.

The move will only set up a long series of legal challenges which will keep the issue alive for the remainder of his reign.

It’s the kind of thing Trump has always wanted. Mire whatever he’s guilty of in legal delaying tactics until circumstances change.

I've been saying for years, President Gotti will never be held accountable for anything. And now he has multiple layers of full legal protection around him. His captains are standing guard. His mentor Roy Cohn taught him well. So I don't even count him in this. He is exempt.

Also, after the way Bondi and Patel have downplayed the materials, if Trump lets the materials see the light of day, and if they're bad, would pretty much wreck them, wouldn't it?

Let's just get this over with, one way or the other. But if there's a bunch of rich and powerful assholes in those materials, I think we should know about it. And they should pay a price.

It sets up an interesting political conundrum.

Trump has survived by his dominance and domineering over the GOP in Congress.

They have been so thoroughly reduced to playing lickspittle and toady to Trump.

The public sees it, too.

Already, the GOP has stood up to Trump on this issue.

If Trump vetoes the bill, votes to override the veto will be filed immediately.

And since Johnson (and most likely Thune) won’t bring the override votes to the floor, another discharge petition will be required to force thst vote.

That will likely suceed, dispite a lot of White House pressure and noise from the pro Trump right wing noise machine.

Whether the override vote succeeds remains to be seen.

But it does look like a lot of Republicans are tiring of being publicly bullied into submission by Trump. Particularly, as they have allowed themselves to sit silent over Trump’s excesses and advance his clearly unpopular agenda.

This is another chance for them to take back the power of the legislative branch.

We will see whether they use it this time.
