Does this count as Right wing violence?

He was seen wearing a Trump shirt? Desperate times call for desperate propaganda before the investigation is over. Even though democrats have the media in their back pocket they still have trouble with their message to sane Americans so they rely on lame concepts to portray a monster as a MAGA before the investigation is over. No surprise.

We dont know at this time but mental illness is a factor. When a church is the target its likely from the left but there is no evidence yet to support that. This may be a deeply personal vendetta

Dead.

So no one can say a thing about how his/her mind worked and why they did what they did.

He may have been a Trump supporter

But its too soon to say the shooting was political

Via CBS News:

Kris Johns, who is running for city council in Burton, Michigan, which is near where the shooting happened in Grand Blanc Township, told CBS News he met Sanford at his home last week while campaigning. He said Sanford had a particular dislike of the Latter-day Saints church, which was previously known as the Mormon church. He said Sanford told him that the church's followers "believe they're above Jesus."

Johns said Sanford told him he moved to Utah for a fresh start to plow snow and that while he was there he started a relationship with a Latter-day Saints woman.

Johns recalls Sanford telling him: "They wanted me to get rid of my tattoos. They wanted me to do all this stuff, and I wouldn't do it."

Johns said he and Sanford didn't talk politics.

"He said nothing about Charlie Kirk, nothing about our current president or past president," Johns said. "He asked me about guns. I said I support the Second Amendment. We ended the conversation very positively."

Johns also said Sanford told him that he had issues with drugs after he returned from overseas deployment.

Johns said he provided a statement to the FBI and the Michigan State Police on Sunday.

Thomas Jacob Sanford

He apparently was a Trump supporter.

However, does MAGA hate the Mormons?

Moreover, where are all the crazy MAGA types deriding the slain Mormons like we saw with Charlie and the CEO shot in New York?

Where are all his right-wing supporters, in other words?

Not sure what was going on here, but I doubt it has anything to do with politics.
No. Violence is violence.

Link?

I've not heard anything about this.
The MAGA movement emphasizes loyalty, which is why many people refer to Trump as 'King Trump.' Do you think Trump is the President of the United States or the king of America? lol. :)

👉 Someone may say "Trump's MAGA people don't like Mormon or other religions." That is largely false and oversimplified. While some tensions exist, especially between many Mormons and Trump or his MAGA movement, this is more about political and cultural differences rather than outright religious animosity.

Key findings on this topic:

• Many Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LDS) have shown ambivalence or negative views towards Trump and the MAGA movement, especially because Trump's style and policies clash with Mormon values of tolerance and civility. Over half of LDS members express negative views of Trump, reflecting a divergence from some evangelical Protestant supporters of Trump, who remain largely favorable. This is more about political and cultural identity than religious rejection or animosity by MAGA people toward Mormons. americansurveycenter+3

• The LDS community historically values tolerance and has experienced religious persecution themselves, making them sensitive to harsh rhetoric, especially on immigration and religious discrimination. Trump’s rhetoric has been viewed as contrary to these values by many in the LDS church. npryoutube

• Within the MAGA movement, there is not an explicit or widespread hostility directed at Mormonism or other religions. Instead, Trumpism/MAGA has developed at times into a quasi-religious identity movement heavily centered on Trump himself rather than traditional religious doctrines. This identity-based political movement incorporates people of many backgrounds but does not uniformly promote dislike toward specific religions such as Mormonism. reddit+1

• While some prominent LDS Republicans have opposed or distanced themselves from Trump (e.g., Mitt Romney), *others remain loyal supporters, showing that the relationship is complex and not uniformly antagonistic. azcentral+1

In summary, many Mormons do not favor Trump or the MAGA movement mainly because of differences in values and cultural outlook, but this does not equate to MAGA people generally disliking Mormons or other religions. MAGA's focus is more on political identity and loyalty to Trump than on expressing animus toward particular religions.

This assessment is supported by polling data, political analyses, and community perspectives gathered mostly in the last several years up to 2025. kjzz+5youtube

Left wing... right wing... right wing... left wing... left wing... right wing... right wing... left wing...

I have always maintained, and continue to do so, that once an individual steps over that line and engages in an act of violence such as this, like we saw with Charlie Kirk, Gabby Giffords, Trump, et al, political ideology is trumped by mental illness. In other words, the politics don't matter now, the ****** was crazy and even he/she doesn't know what they believe in.
You may be right. The power of law enforcement and judicial entities need to be included.

Here is the link to the actual post from 2019. Idiots. Youve been fooled by someone photoshopping over the shirt to make it look like a regular camo tee.

I think to classify something as RW or LW violence, there has to be a POLITICAL element to the motivation for the violence. There is nothing POLITICAL about hating Mormons or the LDS church.

Parenthetically, the reasons for "hating" the LDS church IN UTAH would be different from that feeling elsewhere. Other places it would probably be based on theological differences between the CJCLDS and true Christianity - which are many and significant. In Utah, where that denomination dominates virtually everything, a non-Mormon might find it insufferable.

but what you copy and paste job ignores is that it was a STOP Trump Vance sign.

Try again.
Youre an idiot. Go to the guy's facebook page about his kids health journey. You can see the tee shirt was posted 6 years ago and youre lying about the stop Trump asshat.

What makes killing one TV talking head worse that the 10+ people killed across America by right wingers in North Carolina and Michigan in mass shootings?

I am not sure why the right only gets upset when certain people are killed in mass shootings and it never includes getting upset over children in schools.
