Politics really should be a minor part of our lives.

Unfortunately the government has become bloated and intrusive and people are terrified that hostile parties will control the government.

We were warned about factions. We didn’t listen. (In some ways, that’s not too concerning.)

But we have also been warned anout how opponents and enemies seek to use a similar toxin against us: “divide and conquer.” Good old shitbags like Marx know what they’re doing.

I ceased being an Independent voter and have gone full on MAGA, due to the BS that has been done against Trump, who, by the way, was an old-school liberal before running on the Republican ticket. My Significant Other is an old-school liberal and intends to vote for Harris. Also, she's a Buddhist and I'm an Atheist. No matter who wins, our relationship will not change. Why? It's called love. We just agree to vote for who we prefer and leave it at that.
If a friend(s) dumps you because you voted for the political opponent, then that person(s) was never really your friend in the first place. Just an acquaintance.
If it happens between you and a close family member, then they've forgotten how precious family members can be and should not have let politics drive a wedge between you and them. It's not worth losing family members over.

The Balkanization of the US only helps the left. Their problem is they have divided into so many categories each subgroup fights each other to be at the top of the pity pole.

Yes, the country will keep devolving along party lines, it does not matter who wins as both will push this just like every POTUS since Bush II.

It is the main reason my wife and I will be leaving as soon as we can retire.

There may be lawsuits. I doubt there will be another riot over the certification of electors. Some people are serving time now for simply walking into the Capitol Building at the wrong time. People that were violent and destructive should face consequences, but no more or less than the people caught up in BLM Riots the of the previous year.
