I live in Albuquerque NM which is a sanctuary city in a bright blue sanctuary border state overrun with unlawful illegals, car thieves, drug traffickers, and other unsavory sorts. We are considered a high crime state, a high crime city. We don't count for much or get a lot of attention with only five electoral votes however.

But most of the ugliness is on the other side of town. On our end of town, neighbors seem to share basic traditional American values, a lot of parents home school, churches, civility, neighbors helping neighbors are the norm.

Plus we have iron on all our doors and windows--we didn't choose that but it came with the house and I love it especially when I'm home alone--plus we have firearms and ammo for them and know how to use them. Our neighbors have at least one of their security cameras trained on us at all times and because we among the older members of the neighborhood they check on us from time to time.

We keep our car in good repair, well fueled, and don't go anywhere considered to be high crime areas.

So yeah, I feel pretty safe.

I voted "Sorta" due to the things that I have experienced. On July 2, 2002, lightning struck the car that my mom and me had back then and yes, we were in it when the lightning hit it. On the day after Black Friday 2008, a car crashed into the concrete step of our house just outside our front door. On the Friday of Memorial Day weekend 2009, our house was broken into while I was still there. What kept the person(s) from coming all the way into the house was my having laundry hung up in front of the other side of the door that they were able to get in through. If the door had been pushed open any further, the microwave in our kitchen would've been pushed off of its cart and onto the floor. In April of 2020, a tree in our backyard was hit by lightning. To this day, it is behind our storage building but still has yet to fall completely to the ground. Another tree I guess is what has kept it from going completely down all the way.

God bless you and my mom always!!!

Holly

P.S. We never did find out who tried to come into our house.

I live in a conservative community. There is low crime rate and respect for law enforcement.
