My bet is they are all paid on 1099's, so no withholding and if the organization ever gets busted, they will claim the protesters aren't employees, but rather contractors who were hired as social media influencers.

I would bet a big chunk of them are below $600 annually and don't even generate a 1099 or any reporting at all. Show up, give a fake name, collect a check and the IRS never knows about it.

Hopefully the feds take the Al Capone route with them.

I personally think that their food and lodging should be included in the taxable income they receive.

That alone will put them over $600 reportable income. Likely in just one assigned protest alone.

To deny they are being paid is a flag that the person who believes such should be held for observation.

It is all professional. Definitely they are independent contractors on paper.
