Do black sheep matter? I would not support a Department of Alcoholism.

I do most of my shopping at the Market Basket Plaza just shy of the city line. I am on the event horizon of my eighth decade and so are many of the shoppers I see there. I am a Baby Boomer, and I believe we are still the largest generation still breathing on this Earth. In the age of AI, it is notable that there are no self-checkout kiosks in the store. I believe that the thinking here is that those self-checkouts would probably take someone’s job and because the Market Basket corporation is unionized it is not permitted; I am ok with that. I was in the Steelworker’s Union for twenty years and I receive a small pension from them that comes in handy now that I am retired.

I also worked at another corporation for thirty years that offered a pension but was not unionized. So, that money comes in handy as well. People like me are becoming rare because we come from a time when private corporations provided for us if we demonstrated some loyalty to them. I was able to witness the switch from corporations that valued human loyalty over globalist profiteering at that second corporation. Years ago, the company announced that pensions were ending and even employees hired with the promise of a pension were told: “tough luck”. It’s the “new way”. Employee loyalty was the old way.

I know Market Basket is fighting AI ostensibly for its workers and I admire the concept. I know the store is loaded with old codgers like me and I have so far been able to avoid bagging groceries there. I have also been able to dodge the radiation and chemotherapy resulting from the large alcohol sections in the store that still serves the long term self-ingratiating addiction to booze that keeps them sick and dying early.

In my old age I must be a quarterback with my shopping cart to get around all the climbing walls of hootch piled on the floors right where I need to walk on my way to get food. That liquid nectar is piled everywhere in the store in case the elderly like me forget they need it-for medicinal purposes of course. Apparently, alcohol helps with preserving memory and brain function in spite of the fact that dementia in the city is out of control. Dementia is important for some communities. It keeps people voting the right way.

The unionized Market Basket corporation is fighting for its employees by not allowing AI kiosks in the store and there are plenty of graying customers that support that by hoisting cases of beer into those shopping carts. But the Market Basket Corporation has not stopped with just disallowing self-checkout kiosks. They have now made space for a massive new state liquor outlet right next to the supermarket in case some of the public forgets the nectar.

The city already had a huge liquor store, but marketing is marketing, and citizens now realize that alcohol is so important that bigger is better. Obviously the genius thinking of the community is evident in who they support for political office, but keeping the juice flowing cannot be overlooked. So unionized Market Basket is to be commended for sticking to its guns and not allowing that dangerous AI to take a job in the store.
If aged citizens like me decide to take up drinking again we now know where to go to be happy in our final days of eating, drinking, and being merry. We do not care about kiosks that might rely on extra thinking to operate. We created the Great Society did we not? It is the government’s responsibility to think for us right? Do we dream of a Department of Alcoholism? I think some Boomers do. I’m not one of them. I guess that makes me a black sheep.

Do black sheep matter? I wonder.

In the late 70s republicans and corporations broke the social contract with workers and profits soured. Workers could no longer expect to work for 1 company 30 years then retire, with a pension. Today the average is 5 years.

Jack Welch GE started firing the bottom 10% in every department every year, regardless of how well the company did. And the company kept doing better.

From then to now, CEO pay went up 1322% and worker pay only 18%.

From then to now union membership went from 35% of our workforce to 8%. No coincidence. Labor lost its seat at the table.

google 1999 ford record profit sharing and profits. Google 1998,97,96, etc. things were great. But corporations sent all those union jobs overseas. And they attacked union members as they did it. Today we call them deplorables and they vote for trump? They deserve what they get.

Your parents were the greatest generation. Gave you a great life. Then you told us sorry we can’t have it as good.

It is not Republican or Democrat thing, it is a "swamp" thing and both sides are into it up to their necks.

Of course. So the question is, which parties policies do best for the middle class.

Only One party is looking at tax cuts to the rich and cuts to social security

Drinking is a personal choice. I gave it up long ago after hitting clubs with my friends in the university days. Ultimately is a poison to the body. I suppose in moderation it is fine especially if a particular type such as red wine. Hell it was the mystery to Frances seemingly good health even in the face of their high fat diets rich in cheese. The self serving kiosks are going to arrive its going to be difficult to avoid it not unlike ATMs at banks.

Ontario is full of vices for the government to raise money because they don't keep the best and brightest so they bank on the stupid. This includes liquor, beer stores and gambling. Excessive amounts of gambling which support the province. It's disgusting and worthy of intense loathing.

As for the union jobs and company loyalty, I believe the social contract demands some loyalty from employers. I can tell you that if Trump starts speaking out about company loyalty along with his drive to bring back manufacturing, he will have completed the flipping of all the Democrat loyal voters to the GOP. An impressive result to say the least.

The GOP have quickly become the Party of the working class and he should proudly talk about bringing this back and expanding it. His choice for Labor Minister or whatever you guys that representative is a prime example.

I was always free market and had no use for unions. Being the target of the state for my lifetime has changed my opinion somewhat. I now recognize the value of unions in some industries. but more importantly, I still vehemently support government out of our lives because I know how diabolical and destructive they are to our economy and our very souls.

TPS are feeling the heat more than ever and it's going to get worse for these criminals I assure you as I continue to share details with the U.S government in particular but I digress.

As it were, I don't drink very often anymore nor smoke any substances. There is an unfair stigmatization of one vice to another which I dont think is fair. If someone wants to smoke a plant that is their choice as long as they aren't harming others. The heavy stuff which is designed to kill citizens is an entirely different ballgame altogether.

Union membership peaked about 1952 at 35%. Now it is less than 10%, and less than 6% in the private sector, even after the unionization of Starbucks

Back when UAW went on strike and Biden supported the workers, trump couldn’t or wouldn’t.

Musk and trump illegally threatened to fire workers who go on strike.

I’m looking forward to the UAW contract negotiations in 2028, an election year. See what trump says then.

Are you saying because trump is ruining the economy for the haves the have nots love him?

If We Let Them Own a Man's Work, We Let Them Own That Man

When corporate leaders weren't wannabe Preppy snobs, the motto was, "All for one, and one for all."

With today's tyrants, the motto is, "All for one, and that one all for himself."

Old School leaders: "There is no I in 'team.

Bizz Skule leaders: "I am the team."

Ambitious Imbeciles

The only thing students learn in college is snobbery against blue-collar people. Their inferior knowledge of logic, history, and grammar proves that college means nothing more than buying a job, which automatically puts lowlife in high places.

I’m fortunate to see both sides of this. I struggled and bounced from company to company. And I watched my brother rise to be a VP at a couple Fortune 500 companies. I’ve seen how their pay has gone up. So much, he’s retired in his 50s with $15 million dollars and homes all over the world. The companies he worked for were not unionized. If it was the workers would have got their fair share. Like boomers did

From Camelot to Vacant Lot

Forced integration of incompatible races was designed to break up union solidarity, and it did. When two phenomena happen at the same time, they usually cause each other.

We are prevented from realizing this by the false idea that the integrationist Democrats were pro-labor.

A clue to realizing what the real motive was is that Henry Ford II, a Rightist HeirHead anti-worker parasite, was a key mover in the White Replacement of Detroit, which also caused its junglification.
