I enjoyed Dilbert for years. But, one day, he posted something deemed offensive, and papers across the country dropped him. He set up a website to continue his cartoons, but he made it a paywall. I never signed up for it. - Morte

“Dilbert” cartoonist Scott Adams is dead at 68 after a battle with prostate cancer.
The satirist from Windham died following a long battle with prostate cancer, according to his ex-wife, Shelly Miles. She announced the news on Tuesday during a live stream on his YouTube channel, Coffee with Scott Adams, reading a statement Adams prepared prior to his death .

“I had an amazing life,” the statement said in part. “I gave it everything I had.”

The comic artist frequently gave fans updates about his condition, which had spread to his bones, after announcing in May that he expected “to be checkin’ out from this domain sometime this summer.”

The left is already celebrating.

Some people are crowing about the failure of ivermectin to stop the cancer, while carefully avoiding a possible cause of the cancer.

Mixed feelings.

I enjoyed Dilbert for years as a comic strip. We've all worked in that office. We've all had those coworkers. We've all dealt with that level of absurdity.

Adams also made a cameo on the Sci-Fi Series Babylon 5 with his then girlfriend.

But the downside, in his last years, he subscribed to some truly screwy ideas, which eventually cost him everything.

not sure it cost him everything in a sense, long run he has pile of money in the bank, his comment about blacks got him dropped

anybody with a brain can see blacks and white don't mix well and are better with their own, this is not a theory it's fact based on stats

That said my uncle died the same way, prostrate cancer that nuking did not all get, went to his bones it was all downhill from there

living your last 30 days on morphine in a veggie state is NO way to go at all

no trump hating dumbass, he got prostrate cancer and it spread to his bones, seen it with my uncle

you are one cold person to say that because of their political belief, he was a human and he was more
popular than you can ever be in your lifetime with more wealth, least he had a skill which I doubt you have

In other words, the thought police ruined his career.

Dilbert made fun of work and the workplace so thats heroic in a sense.

This tweet says it all:

Who says OJ Murdered his wife? A jury acquitted him.

I'm being sarcastic, of course. The problem was everyone knows who OJ is. No further comment was necessary. People might not remember that Adams was a cartoonist who blew up his own career by saying something racist, because even by the time he did that, he had already drifted into cultural irrelevance.

In other words, the thought police ruined his career.

No, he ruined his own career by saying stupid stuff. The thing was, Dilbert had already declined in popularity, partially because it wasn't edgy anymore (he had been doing the same thing for 34 years), partially because no one reads newspapers anymore.

Meet Victoria Edel. Writer, leftist, hater.

why is she a hater? She made an obvious true statement. He was disgraced by his own words.

A talented surgeon shouldn't be ousted from his life-saving career because he says something others disagree with. And if that statement is true then nobody should be ousted from their careers for something they say. The 1st Amendment is the 1st Amendment whether you agree with a person's ideas/beliefs or not.

Adams was still a talented cartoonist whether you agreed with him or not. Ultimately, the thought police ruined his career. He was the same guy before voicing his opinion as he was after he voiced it.

So if a talented surgeon were a virulent racist or anti-Semite, would you have him work on black or Jewish patients? Or would you realize that might be too much of a liability if that patient died?

The First Amendment only prevents Congress from stopping him from saying what he likes.

Newspapers are under no obligation to print his strips that stopped being funny 10 years ago.

Here's how you can tell how irrelevant he was. In 2014, he simplified his character designs so that all characters wore polo shirts with ID tags. (which was a thing in the mid-teens.) Yet all the satirical cartoons about the incident showed Dilbert in the old design.

It's nothing to do with the first Amendment.

Adams was a disgraced cartoonist. His strip was dropped from national newspapers after he made some racist comments.

Heck, and it wasn't just one slipup, he was saying crazy stuff for years, including Holocaust denial.
