Did you grow up during the 60s or 70s?
Watch the short video that relates to your childhood era.

Is the video correct?

I grew up in the 70's, and the video is absolutely correct on all counts.

Before I watch it, I consider myself a child of the 80's. But I was born in 1970. So my first 10 were in the 70's. Can't wait to see if I can relate too.

It's a new Youtube channel. So far, they only have the 60s and 70s available.

Hopefully they will come out with the 50s, 80s, and 90s soon.

Both videos are psychobabble and dead wrong. They are not psychology. I have masters degree in psychology and 30 years experience. Personality is created by experiences with your parents and family. We can have good parents or bad parents. the 60s and 70s are no different.
Today the difference is exposure to media shaping the minds of children. Thats the only difference. Single mothers no father will also damage a childs personality in most cases.

Born in 1955 so I find the 60s one total BS, the 70s one closer to the truth for me growing up.

I guess it depends on the norms of the area you were born in more than the timeline.

I remember DC glowing red in the East from the riots in '68 but no shits were given in my AO about it that I could tell.

Agreed. 1954

8 years old and the mom made the kid do the laundry?

Agreed. 1954
LOL....I remember when we were told in school that JFK was shot. I mis-heard and thought they said he got a shot, like at the Dr's office.

All I remember of the aftermath was that the afternoon Capt. Tug cartoon show was preempted for a week. No after school Popeye cartoons for me!

My friend showed me a similar video but it was about why so many young men are staying single. Then there was one about why younger women are choosing to stay single.

I like these.

As men get older the selection of women gets better. As women get older the selection of men gets smaller and they are less attracive

I'm 55. I met a beautiful 43 year old Cuban woman here in Florida.

No 43 year old man wants to date a 55 year old woman.

I was born in 1970. Last year my crack head neighbor asked me if I wanted to F. I was like EW! No ******* way! She was born in 1957. That would make her 13 years older than me. Gross!

Agreed. Born in 1960.

My parents were from small towns in the country and moved to the big city of Houston before having me. That's where they met. So I got a raisin' by country folk and had to apply their parental guidance while roaming aound a group of apartment complexes that shared a common parking lot. They didn't have me until they were thirty-two, which meant their childhoods were in the depression and their teen years were in WWII.

I went to urban elementaries and junior high and then they moved us out to the burbs.

Point being, no one duplicated that, except my brother and even for him it was different being the second child.

One of the most interesting psych videos ever produced is one called, "You are what you were when," by Morris Massey. In it, he goes through several cultural "generations" (which he defines by the decades of the 1900's) and shows how each generation was impacted by what was going on in the world when they were children. It addresses the sorts of things that motivate, repel, and stimulate people of each generation. It is amazingly insightful.

Born in 1949, I was fully aware of what was going on in the 60's, and I am fully aware that the people of my generation who got all of the attention were far less than half of their generation. While they were "tuning in, turning off, and dropping out," we were working our butts off trying to pay our way through college and life. While they were jerking off at Woodstock and anti-war rallies, we were in the Armed Forces growing up.

THOSE children of the 60's have destroyed Academe, public service, the Mainstream Media, and "Hollywood."

And we may never recover.

They call it psychology in the videos, but it's not. It's more an over generalization of norms at the time.
But from the childhood I had growing up, the 70s video is all completely true.

Watched 60s. Don't relate to it. The only fear I had was the negroes attacking me as I walked home from grade school bordering So. L.A.

black menace attack.webp

The 50s were a time of ugly broken down cars, leaky old houses with furnaces that broke down, and angry wives who sat home vacuuming, while hitting the bottle daily.
