NRA and the American Rightwing forbid the government from enacting legislation that would deny this mentally unstable American citizen (who was on the FBI's terrorist watch list) from getting a gun.
We have seatbelt regulations on cars, but it doesn't prevent lawful citizens from driving. Similarly, we should have gun regulations that prevent suspected radicals from legally obtaining militarily assault rifles - but the Rightwing has invented a paranoid slippery slope that conflates denying terrorists guns with destroying the 2nd Amendment - and they are are about to elect a president who exploits this insane paranoia. The result will be a country that can't think clearly about guns, resulting in more slaughter.
The Rightwing has become so Machiavellian that they use any American tragedy to amplify the current failed Middle Eastern policy. But it gets worse: the policy advocates don't see that US military intervention in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria has created exactly the kind of political instability that ISIS requires. Reagan's decision to live with Hussein was correct.
God help us.
