It appears the social security database was uploaded to an unsecure cloud server. This could expose about 300 million people to wide spread identity theft. I heard on the radio earlier that, IF bad actors were able to access this data, ot would mean the government would have to issue a new social security number to everyone in the country.

Now, how likely is it that the information could be hacked? Its doubtful nobody knows.

While I agree with the premise of what doge was doing, trying to cut waste in the government, ill admit that it appears they didnt know what they were doing. This could be bad for most Americans if the worst happens.

It's already been "hacked" (breached), by an internal bad actor with "read only" access <eye roll>

It has already been hacked. Doge has it. Who knows what they will do with it?

Cutting waste, making things efficient is a good thing.

Doing it badly is not. It doesn't make things more efficient, it leads to people having to spend loads of money later on.

It's like cutting funding from roads, and then they get pot holes and then people end up paying loads of money to fix their cars. It's not efficient, even if the politicians say it is.

Agreed. DOGE was a good idea, but it was poorly executed.

DOGE team members uploaded a database with the personal information of hundreds of millions of Americans to a vulnerable cloud server, according to the agency’s chief data officer.

Borges also said DOGE officials briefly “appeared to have circumvented” the March 20 temporary court order that locked them out of Social Security data, regaining access to the data over the following weekend before being cut off again March 24.

Also the court had restricted that access then they were gained access, then they were restricted again.

So I guess the question is what does DOGE need with social secuirty numbers of Americans.

There have been court battles about this and appears they were denied by the court, then allowed, then denied again.

I guess when the window was open briefly , they jump on that opening. Then it was closed.

So why does DOGE need social security numbers of everyone?

The NYT is a joke. They hate Trump and will say anything. I don't believe them.

Well government efficient has been around for ages. Question is can rich people be efficient

Hoover commission - Truman and Eisenhower
The Grace commission under - Regan

Clinton - Reinventing Government

Bush - Management Agenda

2018 Trump first presidency- Reform plan
How many remember that one

Now he has DOGE
If at first you do not succed then try , try again
One thing for sure is the next president will have his own plan and name it.

Name that tune - Reform

Yet has it ever worked.

I can't think of any good, honest, reason. Can you?

This was a new story that I heard on the radio today. They made it seem as if this was a new development.

Just the beginning....as the blob continues to "get creative" in combating the imaginary enemies his deteriorating mind invents...you are likely see national guardsmen opening fire on Americans who posed no threat and were not likely violating any laws; all in the name of "law and order". Kent State all over again.

Those who don't learn from history are forced to repeat it.

I originally heard this story listening to patriot channel on Sirius xm, in one of their news breaks

Maybe it's true but I wouldn't believe the staff at the NYT if they told me what they ate for breakfast.

Haven't they already found and removed countless dead people from the Social Security Books who were still receiving checks?

Stop getting your news from the NY Times, dude! Nobody is going to take anything you say seriously.

What does DOGE need with social security number of Americans?!?

1. They're worth money when sold on the dark web
2. It's not just social security numbers, the SSA also has bank account info so they can direct deposit the benefits of those receiving SS
3. The SSA also handles claims for those on disability who receive benefits so their records include what would normally be private health information (PHI) and thereby protected by HIPAA but apparently when filing any types of medical claims for long or short term disability, one has to waive their privacy rights under HIPAA.

Shall I go on?

Wow, Kent State is exactly what I thought of yesterday when I read that Trump has armed the National Guard that is patrolling DC.

Trump is an evil man.
