The obvious answer is that many human beings are "curious" and like to "learn" about people who aren't just like them.

This is one of the ways we grow and evolve and improve. "Curiosity" and "learning" are usually considered good things.

It truly is sad that I have to simplify something like this, as if I'm talking to a child.
