Democrats Should Be Worried About the Latino Vote
Political organizers have a warning for the 2020 candidates.
Democrats Should Be Worried About the Latino Vote
The first warning sign of the new year came three days into 2020. Speaking at a rally of conservative evangelicals in South Florida, President Donald Trump riffed on the targeted killing of Iran’s Qassem Soleimani before the thousands assembled in the King Jesus International Ministry megachurch, outside of Miami.
That night, the president captured headlines for declaring that “God is on our side” and accusing Democrats of disloyalty for not supporting his air strike. But for Domingo Garcia, the national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, what the headlines—and Democrats—missed was the significance of the rally’s location: the home of the country’s largest Hispanic evangelical congregation.
“That should be a serious red flag to Democrats,” Garcia told me. Trump’s outreach to conservative Latinos in the South serves as a warning sign for deeper concerns that several Latino leaders and political activists shared with me: that they are dissatisfied with the level of engagement they are seeing from the Democratic primary contenders and are noticing the same kind of poor strategizing by candidates that yielded disappointing turnout among Hispanic voters in 2016.
ME: Its all going Trump's way. Nobody can stop The Donald. Blacks are turning to Trump, Latinos are turning to Trump, Democrats are scaring away independents with their extremism, the economy is booming, jobs are back....What the **** man. Its the decade of Trump.

Wow: Another Florida Poll Shows Trump Leading With Latinos
One of the most arresting polls of the campaign, all the more so because it jibes with
the data from Miami-Dade. This isn’t some freakish outlier. Latino voters are in play in Florida.
Four years ago he lost Latinos in Florida to Clinton by 27 points. Today? He’s up four. A 31-point turnaround!
Trump’s margins among male voters exceed Biden’s among females. And meanwhile Latinos aren’t the only minority that are a bit more open to Trump than they were four years ago:
Trump’s cutting into Democrats’ margins among blacks and younger voters
Trump's anti-socialist messaging is particularly persuasive among older Cubans in Florida.

Last two FL polls of Hispanics:
Marist: Trump leads 50-46
Qpac- Trump leads 48-46
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Hispanic voters seem to be shifting Republican now and abandoning the Dem party. This is something we’ve never quite seen before.
Momentum for Donald Trump in the current poll is the result of a surge in voters who believe “restoring law and order” to U.S. cities facing looting, rioting and violent protests should be a top priority for federal lawmakers.
Perhaps most significantly, not only does restoring law and order to U.S. cities outrank concern among those who believe improving race relations in the country should be a top priority (tied for 4th place at 21%), but
“law and order” voters prefer Donald Trump over Joe Biden by a 74% to 16% margin. This is the clearest evidence yet that violent protests and rioting across the USA are hurting Biden’s chances in a must-win state like Pennsylvania.
