Then maybe you should read his reasoning?
It was about the legal entanglements of stripping exsisting contracts.
You gotta admit, this looks very bad for Chris Dodd, if it is true.
And keep in mind, all these politicians are slick and greedy. Chris Dodd may have just thought he would get away with doing this for the exec's, who did donate a lot to him. He should have seen this coming.
And if he didn't have the brains to realize this would be a problem with the American people? We didn't even want AIG to get the money in the first place, let alone bonus'.
So Bush and Obama say that it was necessary. So lets say we swallow that. Fine. But bonus'?
And if this is true, and it is true because we see it happening in failed companies all over the country where executives are getting millions of dollars for failing, or when they get fired, this has to stop.
But remember, I/we have been crying about this for years. It was the people on the right that were defending executive pay. They said we hate the rich and that we were jealous because these people were smart enough to make it to the top, and we were just being whiners. Remember?
So I find it ironic that now the GOP are screaming foul about executive bonus'? Where were they the last 8 years. Remember, this is partially how the executives have bankrupted their companies on purpose so they could renig on pensions. Go chapter 11 and start over fresh, without owing their retired employees a thing. Just put it on the US government.
But this is why the GOP is very good at playing politics. They are lousy at governing, but great politicians.
