Tax exempt status is a privilege and they have to abide by the rules if they want it.
It is not punishment to pay taxes like everyone else.

Yet plenty of other non profits can be political all they want.
They were singled out, and that is unconstitutional.

Good point. But they agree to other stipulations too, don’t they? Like posting their donor list and whatnot.
It’s not like churches are the only nonprofits that can’t endorse candidates and campaign. 501c3s can’t do that.

That's due to the same Johnson amendment.
What those other nonprofits do usually is to create a 501c(4) org that can do political work.
It's all just a big game of whack a mole. Just repeal the Johnson amendment and be done with it.
MAGAs are the trolls. No questions are asked beyond post 1. All we get are complaints about trolling, if the original question isn’t answered satisfactorily, which is never.

Don’t get me started on the insanity or 501c4s. They’re not supposed to be political at all but the IRS made some shit up about it. Then citizens united came along and it went ******* crazy.

Why is it so important to the left to block certain people from politics?
Of course they don't want all these rules to apply to their cronies like civil service unions or community action groups, just ones they don't like.
I never got why the left went nuts over Citizens United. Any restrictions on speech will be abused.
