Democrats Demanding All Confederate Statues Removed From Capitol

you take away history, you take away the lessons to learn from. Sounds like the left wish to repeat the sins of the civil war era.

Where is anyone taking away history? They are taking statues celebrating a rebellion against the US that are up on Federal Property. If anything these things fake history.

Look here, derpity-doodle, the SC ruled secession was illegal after it had been done and the war fought over it was done and over.

Yes. That's how it works in the US. What do you want? The Supreme Court to rip up the constitution and start judging things before they ever happen?

I just find it quite astounding the way you keep defending your indefensible position.

At the time of secession, there was nothing illegal about it.

How is the US Constitution indefensible? We don't just get to grab a marker and cross the parts of the Constitution out that we don't like.

Yes. In anything we do there is nothing illegal about it until a court decides. That's the US. That's why we presume innocence UNTIL PROOF OF GUILT. Once that's proven, the act is deemed illegal. That's the end of the story for the USA here. Barring overthrowing the government and installing new law, that's what it is.

Outside of ripping up the Constitution I don't see how you can stand up for your side. Constitution says Supreme Court decides matters between State and federal Gov't. Supreme court asked if the secession that led up to the Civil War was legal. They said it was not.

According to the tenth amendment to the Constitution, anything that is not expressly prohibited by the Constitution is a right of the state. Therefore, all states have a Constitutional right to secede. Federal powers require constitutional expression, else the feds don't have it and such powers are retained by the individual states.

That is true, and if there is a state vs. federal disagreement the Supreme Court decides on law and fact.

The disagreement was if the Constitution said the secession was illegal or not. Per the US Constitution that could only be decided by the Supreme Court. They said yes the Constitution said that secession was illegal. That's where it ends.
