The problem for Schumer’s message, however, is that holding out for more Medicaid spending is the opposite of standing up for democracy. Rather than shutting down the government over unilateral executive actions, or presidential refusals to spend money authorised by Congress, Schumer is trying to undo the biggest thing passed by a Republican Congress. He’s trying to use leverage to win a victory he didn’t have the votes to get. It completely contradicts the Democrats’ theme that they’re the ones standing up for Congress and representative government.

The states pay for the healthcare and the federal government reimbursed them. The states can continue to pay for illegals if they want to...until we deport all of them

This is not a budget, but a CR which should include no additional spending. That's what "continuing" in continuing resolution is what it stands for. The Democrats want to keep the ACA supplements raised during COVID which are set to expire at the end of the year. That is new spending.

As the Admiral said, a CR (continuing resolution) is just a furtherance of current spending to give time to go through the normal appropriations process.

A. Won the last election
B. Used their majorities to pass legislation that the Democrats don't like
C. That legislation denied their favored constituencies (e.g. illegal aliens, lazy lay abouts) some hand outs at the expense of everyone else.

This is no different than the Democrats in the Texas State Legislature walking out to deny the majority a quorum or years back when the Wisconsin State Democrats did the same thing.

Democrats only support Democracy when it gives them their way.
