Imagine you're the former Senator from Mastercard (or DuPont) and you just can't find a way to Build Back Better, raise the minimum wage, control a 7.5% inflation rate, forgive student debt, or halt Republican voter suppression efforts no matter how hard you "try.".:auiqs.jpg:

Democrats: the More Effective Evil

BY CHRIS HEDGES

"You must manufacture an existential threat.

"Terrorists at home. Russians and Chinese abroad.

"Expand state power in the name of national security.

"Beat the drums of war.

"War is the antidote to divert public attention from government corruption and incompetence.

"No one plays the game better than the Democratic Party.

"The Democrats, as journalist and co-founder of Black Agenda Report Glen Ford said, are not the lesser evil, they are the more effective evil."

I don't know, when John Bolton was around wars happened.

One of the points Chris Hedges makes in the OP is that while both parties are equal opportunity warmongers, Democrats have better marketing strategies:

Democrats: the More Effective Evil

BY CHRIS HEDGES

"Warmongering by the Democrats always comes wrapped in the mantle of democracy, freedom and human rights, making Democrats the more effective salespeople for war.
_100533914_gettyimages-72716627.jpg

"Democrats eagerly lined up behind George W. Bush during the calls to invade Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of 'humanitarian intervention” and 'liberating' the women of Afghanistan, who would spend the next two decades living in terror, burying family members, at times their children..."

"Now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), says 'an assault on Ukraine is an assault on democracy,' the same argument Democrats clung to a half-century ago while launching and expanding the disastrous war in Vietnam."

Hedges has gone a bit off the edge in recent years.

To put it mildly.
Can you provide any examples?

I've been reading his columns regularly since he opposed the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and haven't noticed any major perturbations in his analysis of political/economic events.

Democrats: the More Effective Evil

BY CHRIS HEDGES

"An economic crisis means a political crisis.

"And a political crisis is traditionally solved by war against enemies inside and outside the nation.

"The Democrats are as guilty of this as the Republicans.

"Wars can get started by Democrats, such as Harry S. Truman in Korea or John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson in Vietnam, and perpetuated by Republicans.

"Or they can get started by Republicans, such as George W. Bush, and perpetuated by Democrats such as Barack Obama and Joe Biden."

He's been radicalized.

You posted some decent examples of this actually.

If so, he's been radicalized by Evil.

After beginning his career as a war correspondent in Central America, Hedges spent 15 years at the New York Times reporting from more than 50 countries before his opposition to the US invasion of Iraq ended his tenure.

I suspect the ordained Presbyterian minister's writings reflect the cardinal consequences of watching others be manipulated and then discarded as human refuse after all their value has been exploited.

"December 19, 2019

"Immanuel Kant coined the term 'radical evil.'

"It was the privileging of one’s own interest over that of others, effectively reducing those around you to objects to be manipulated and used for your own ends.

"But Hannah Arendt, who also used the term 'radical evil,' saw that it was worse than merely treating others as objects.

"Radical evil, she wrote, rendered vast numbers of people superfluous.

"They possessed no value at all.

"They were, once they could not be utilized by the powerful, discarded as human refuse."

I wonder how Biden was able to get Putin to put 130,000 troops on Ukraine's border...

Given the level of corruption in Ukraine (and DC), Biden may have bribed Zelensky with US arms sales?

Biden's motives for stirring up tensions on Russia's border may involve stimulating European flight capital for safe havens in the US (thereby easing inflation), legitimizing the US military presence in Europe, and poisoning EU/Russian ties.

disagree. Joe is doing the Progs bidding in an unstable world that is made worse by agendas. And Obama is one of many involved behind the scenes.
How many progressives are working at Raytheon?

Imho, Biden and Obama along with Trump, Bush, and both Clintons serve the same rich, corporate and conservative interests they've always catered to.

US increases dominance of global arms exports.

"From 2015 to 2019, the U.S. contributed about 35 percent of global arms sales.

"SIPRI’s new figures, studying the years 2016-2020, show the U.S. contributing about 37 percent of the overall arms market.

"American arms customers included 96 different states during this time period, with 47 percent of those sales going to the Middle East, according to the think tank."

Take your hands and place them in front of your face with the fingers moving separate from each other. One side is left and one side is right. Then move the moving fingers on each side closer to each other and an inch in. Those fingers will touch each other as you swirl the fingers. That is the politics we have. And that is just one of the costly things we pay for as the military/industrial complex we have.

Chris Hedges (and others) have referred to that as radical evil:

The age of radical evil - The Transnational

"We live in an age of radical evil.

"The architects of this evil are despoiling the earth and driving the human species toward extinction.

"They are stripping us of our most basic civil liberties and freedoms.

"They are orchestrating the growing social inequity, concentrating wealth and power in the hands of a cabal of global oligarchs.

"They are destroying our democratic institutions, turning elected office into a system of legalized bribery, stacking our courts with judges who invert constitutional rights so that unlimited corporate money invested in political campaigns is disguised as the right to petition the government or a form of free speech."

All I know is Trump was peaceful. He promoted a larger military, and we can argue. But then again, we need to keep up with China now. And we pay several times more for our heavy military products for the comparable Chinese one.

Maybe he is lying about it. Joe Potatohead is well known for being a liar.

Could be a "wag the dog" statement by the Potatohead administration. You know, to cover up for his massive failures.

With that shithead it is always hard to tell what he is fucking up.

Yeah, all of NATO is lying. Okay.

Your BDS is getting the better of you.

We can't trust the Russians and we sure as hell can't trust President Potatohead.

By the way, here are some of the NATO Defense ministers.

Maybe good for fucking and fixing sandwiches but hardly anybody to scare the Russians
