I usually come on this board only when I have something to say about something that upsets me. This is one of those occasions.
The performance of socialist Democrat Russ Feingold has really made me mad. With his censure proposal of President Bush he has set himself up as judge and jury about the NSA listening in on calls from the U.S. to terrorist sources over seas, and vise versa. Feingold, I am using his last name only as sign of disrepsect, offers his censure resolution without one iota of proof that the NSA intercepted calls of ANY law abiding citizen of the United States. I do not care one bit about his thoughts on this matter since he, along with Sen. McCain authored the bill that has taken away our first amendment rights regarding freedom of speech with the Campaign Finance Law, and then in turn says that terrorists phone calls should not be monitored. He is nothing more than a typical political hack who desires power for the sake of power, thus rendering him to the age-old Democrat tactic of sayiong anything, doing anything, taking any position to help him and his party gain the power that the voters of this country took away from them in 1994.
One thing that really stands out is the socialist Democrats total disrespect for the democratic process. They pay lip service to democracy but then thumb their noses when they lose elections by clear majorities. When I was growing up we were taught in government classes that in a representative democracy the MAJORITY rules. Democrats and their lap dog media supporters have been thumbing their noses at the majority voters, not just a party, but everyday "Joes" like us who voted in a clear majority for President Bush and the policies he espoused in the 2004 campaign. They have made absolutely no effort to play a role in fixing social security, making the successful tax cuts permanent, or even take a pro-American stance in the War on Terror. All they can do is say NO to anything that the President supports. That is irresponsible and certainly is contrary to all democratic principles that our nation was founded upon.
It is past time for Republicans, inside and outside government, to get behind President Bush and do everything possible to get the agenda he proposed enacted in to law. This nation cannot afford to have the Democrats back in power. They are liars when it comes to informing the voters what they really stand for. They are liars when they say they stand for democratic principles and then thumb their noses at the majority when they lose elections. They are liars when it comes to saying they are strong on defense and security and then put forth proposals to cut the defense budget by $60 billion.
The Democrat Party and its officeholders and candidates cannot be trusted on defense, social security, war on terror, taxes or the economy. They continue to dream that Americans actually want government to make them dependent on politicians for their sustenance, cradle to grave. That may be the position of some, but not the majority of people in this country.
We who despise socialist government must make every effort this Fall that we re-elect Republicans and elect new ones to keep the Democrats out of power. They have placed themselves in a position that they must start at the state and local levels to prove they have abandoned their socialist philosophy of government and economics. That will take decades. In the meantime I will NOT trust anything a Democrat says because it goes to the old adage that "what you do speaks so loud I can not hear what you say".
