I've long held that the real battle between the two parties is for control of the DC swamp/establishment and all the financial reward that comes with it.

No, the DC swamp is a self-sustaining, self-proclimated, unelected 4th estate of the government, largely put into place by the Left, full of leftists, which now exists of, by and for itself. And Trump is finding out they are even self-protected, wrapped up in endless laws designed to keep any elected official from even firing or disbanding them no matter how bad the job or what the cause.

There really is no way to serve the people and the DC swamp/establishment at the same time. Democrats are learning this the hard way, albeit extremely slowly.

There is nothing for democrats to learn. To the Left, the program is everything, their agenda more important than the people, and you will not likely ever see the present democrat party "learn" anything--- the swamp is their seat of power and the people are only as important as needed to get them to keep them in office for the next election cycle.
