Current Governor is Phil Bryant (Republican)
US Senate Thad Cochran (Republican)
Roger Wicker (Republican)
US House Alan Nunnelee (Republican)
Bennie Thompson (Democrat)
Gregg Harper (Republican)
Steven Palazzo (Republican)
Majority of House Members 64 Republicans (58 Democrats)
Majority of Senate Members 32 Republicans (20 Democrats)
Currently "25 Percent Of People In Mississippi Can't Afford Food." As this has happened for the last 6 years it kind of suggests that the republican government of Mississippi is not very concerned about their people starving. I also seem to remember that Mississippi has opted out of increasing Medicare which leaves many without health insurance. These are a few of the reasons I vote Democratic. There are many others.

This started off a very good thread about why, after a half century of the War on Poverty and the Great Society can they still not feed themselves in Detroit and Chicago---and there are more on the dole than ever.

The great grandchildren of the first Welfare Queens are now an Army, and they are birthing a new generation of Welfare Queens...the only thing that has changed is you can't call them Welfare Queens any more...due to the Political Correctness Police.

I do believe it is a calculated policy of the Democratic Party to keep people on the Government tit and recruit more, and simply take over this country by the force of the votes of people getting a government check.

the best comparison is to look at Houston and Detroit. Start after the Depression and review all of the policies implemented through today. If you had to pick how your locale were to be governed, which one would you pick? You can only choose Detroit or Houston.

I'll start: Houston is my choice. Unfortunately, the largest city in my state, Baltimore, has gone more Detroit and no direction that Houston has gone and the results speak for themselves: high crime, corruption, high taxes, increased regulation, increased litigation, manufacturing businesses closing up shop.

Again, I remember when LBJ went on television 50 years ago and told us that his "Great Society Program " would put an end to poverty in the United States.






50 years later and over a Trillion dollars later and there are as many poor in America as there were back then.
