By Dan Reed, USA TODAY
Delta Air Lines (DAL) last month dodged a bankruptcy filing, but it couldn't dodge records for the largest losses in airline history.
The USA's No. 3 carrier said Thursday that it lost an unprecedented $2.2 billion, or $16.58 a share, in the fourth quarter. For all of 2004, it lost $5.2 billion, or $41.07 a share.
The previous loss records: $1.96 billion by Delta in the second quarter of 2004 and $3.5 billion lost by American in 2002.
