What would happen if I actually debated a city mayor on TV, and I said this in the debate ?

Ok, gentrification..

Let's go down the list..

#1. Dietary habits.

Fast food.
Doctors don't eat it.

Cheesesteaks, pizza, hoagies and hotdogs and ramen soup.
Doctors don't make a diet of it.

Soda.
Doctors don't drink it more than sparingly, if ever.

Vices.

Smoke.
Doctors don't do it.

Drink.
Most doctors dont do it.

Gamble.
Most doctors don't do it.

Hookers and strippers.
Most don't doctors dont use them because they have better social lives on their own.

Drugs.
Most doctors don't use them, and those that do and get caught, are using prescription drugs that are a lot safer and more private with much less social consequences for the community...
The drugs that they use, TRULY ARE, only damage to themselves...
Unlike street drugs.

Slums.
A doctor doesn't live in them and won't maintain it as a slum because that isn't how they live.
That isn't how smart people with a brain, intelligence worth a goddamn, and an education and a moral compass live.

A lack of education.
A doctor doesn't have the lack.

Violent crime.

Most doctors, and most intelligent, educated people don't commit it.

So exactly what do you want...what is your narrative ?
Do you even have a narrative ?
What is going to be your talking point and that which your decisions are based upon ?
Are you capable of a decision ?

Because you have two options and two options only..

A. Gentrification.
Doctors to bring their skills to the city, and have gentrification...

B. Continue to have a lack of healthcare.

Dr Kitchenguy, your points had very little to do with gentrification issues, unless you are saying everybody else should make the effort to get through college and med school and follow you into your chosen profession. I doubt that is going to happen. Gentrification around here is more of an urban renewal, re-purposing issue, sparked not just by doctors and clean livers, but people with an appreciation of some of the elegant old school two story victorian or 1930s bungalo architecture and the money to bring it back. Most of the doctors in this town live out north, far from the urban decay areas.

Yeah, gentrification around here as defined by ghetto folks is Whitey fixing up formerly great cities and then having the nerve to reside in the area after it is made relatively safe. In other words, making America Great Again is racist because it implies massive gentrification, changing 3rd world slums into the prosperous cities they were before Whitey was chased out by the crime, etc.

Our cities absolutely do need repurposing..
We're not steel manufacturers and car manufacturers anymore.

We need places to live, that are worth living in that accommodates modern intelligent behavior and lifestyles.

Dog parks where people don't have dangerous breed dogs because they're better dog owners, can exercise their dogs.

Athletic Gyms.

Organic grocery stores.

More casual dining and less fast food and food trucks.

More amenities in the homes.

More bicycle roads and trails.

Less bars, casinos and strip clubs, and legalized blatant and unadulterated sex discriminatory restaurants..
And more hotels and boardwalk entertainment.

:)

No problem here. Just thought gentrification might not be the correct approach to the real societal issue. Made me wonder if you had you eye on a place with potential, but did no want to have to start dealing on you own with the potential or known problems of the neighborhood. I am from wholesale millwork background, specializing in doors, windows, stairparts and stairway design/construction as well as exterior architectural millwork and have a lot of experience helping guide and sell to people wanting to refurbish to pre-existing glory older historic homes on occasion, in bringing them back modernizing, but maintaining the true architectural design that keeps them or puts them on the National Registry of Historic homes. Always enjoyed those projects when they came up as I dealt with people who loved the project for themselves and not just trying to make a quick turn on a new upscale home for themselves or the market. Some of the most satisfying, but time consuming projects I worked on. :)
