I've been called for Jury Duty twice and both times I made the following statement and was released from Jury Duty and I stand by my statement.
"I will not make a guilty determination on an eyewitness statement alone. I must see that there is DNA, fingerprints and video, before finding anyone guilty. My reason is that many people have in the past been determined to be guilty, only years later found to be not guilty and that some people executed were eventually found to be not guilty. Murdered by the state."
That is not to say that the death penalty should be abolished. It must be 100% certifiable that the person(s) deliberately planned and executed a horrendous murder or murders.
