Rather remarkable story, but clearly documented in history.

Denis was a Christian leader in Paris, Roman Empire.

Anyhoo, the liberal leaders decided to execute Denis by lopping off his head, and they did do that. So what Denis did was he picked up his head and walked from Montmartre in Paris, to Saint-Denis, a suburb north of the city. During the trek, Denis continued to preached a sermon. A lot of people think it was not a big deal, as the trek was downhill. Sure it would have been tougher to walk headless from Saint-Denis to Montmartre but it was pretty tough doing it downhill.

Denis keeled over dead in Saint-Denis.
