Zone1 Dearborn residents raise concerns about loudspeaker used by mosque for call to prayer

When I was growing up in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, there was a large, cathedral-like church that pealed its bells at 0900, noon, 1800 and 1900. As a little kid, I had to be home by the time the 2100 bells finished tolling.

I found the bells nice and comforting, but maybe there were others who found them obnoxious.

Conversely, I think that the President and every Governor ought to make it clear that if you come to this country from some God-forsaken shit-hole, you must accept our culture and do nothing that is antithetical to it. "Do your call to prayer via cell phone, radio, or silently."
The fact that these Muslims have immigrated to this country and then insist on disturbing the peace - in violation of local noise ordinances - tells us that they expect that WE defer to them, no matter how disturbing it is to us personally.

And the fact that leaders carve out exceptions for this particular religion - even though it interferes with others - tells you where this is headed.

and what will happen when they have local majorities?

We already see it. They will of course elect Muslim mayors who will prioritize the wishes of Muslims over the best interests of non-Muslims.

do you know how many cities have Moslem mayors?
Not sure, but Dearborn MI is one of them.

My concern is that in several weeks, NY will elect an antisemitic Muslim as mayor - the country’s largest city.

Do you know he has refused to condemn the call for violence against Jews?

A contentious battle is brewing in Dearborn, Michigan, over a mosque's use of an outdoor loudspeaker for its call to prayer.

One resident spoke at Tuesday's city council meeting, presenting a signed petition over the speaker at the Dearborn Community Center on Schaefer Road.

Andrea Unger cited a city ordinance, which states that people are prohibited from creating "the continuance of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, unusual or unnecessary noise which annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others within the limits of the city."

"The mosques in East Dearborn are at times waking us up at 5:30 a.m. with a call to prayer and, at other times, forcing us to listen to the prayer in our yard and in our own home," Unger said in the meeting.

This is crap.
Cell phones are so common today....why isn't there an app that can be downloaded to call Muslims to prayer by sounding a notification over their cell phone?

But they are such good people.

Well, yall let the enemy in, now you get to listen to him. What did you expect? Dearborn has a huge Muslim population. Yall allowed a Muslim to be elected as Mayor. He has made it known that Islam law is higher than the local ordinances. And if you oppose him you are a white racist.

It won't be long that he will probably say the answer to the problem is to identify a certain area as a Sharia Law Zone. Plus Shariah courts are not far away from being set up.

Concerning your sleep, that's not important. One of the last phrases of that prayer is "There is no god except Allah...Salah is better than sleep...Salah is better than sleep." You need to adjust your sleep time to conform to the Adhan.

So wake up Dearborn, wake up Mich., wake up America. Salah is better than sleep.

You sew a breeze, you reap a tornado.

Can’t a Christian Church do that instead of ringing bells?

I haven't attended a Catholic Church that rings bell since I was a child visiting my grandparents. In those olden days, it sounded the bells on the daylight hours so people in a very small town knew the time. It was quaint and peaceful--and all appreciated it. It wasn't being done (the town grew) the last time I visited about twelve years ago. Is there a Christian church near you that rings bells as a call to worship?

I have a church two blocks from my house that rings its bells daily.

Can’t they just send alerts?

What time? And is someone singing along to praise Jesus? That would bother me. Just bells? Fine. They’re pretty.

Do they ring on the hour, or at a certain time, for a certain purpose?
I was in Vegas, and I could hear bells quietly ring on the hour. I doubt they were from a church, though. Didn’t bother me.

Now if I heard that Islamic call to prayer over a loudspeaker, at 6:00 a.m., in Arabic, celebrating the pedophile who considered Jews to be the offspring of pigs and apes, THAT would bother me.

It's not a question of telling one when church service starts. It's an American tradition based upon it's Christian foundation. Thus the Christian bells have a good sound.

The Islamic Adhan, however, is the sound of the enemy outside your doorstep. Thus the sound is repulsive to Christian Americans.

You see?...probably not. It's not just the sound, though the sound of the Adhan is bad enough, it's whose making it.

They should be more concerned about the Muslim mayor telling Christians they are no longer welcome in Dearborn.

My youngest daughter rotates to a night shift every three months. The other one is periodically assigned to night shift. When something awakens them during the day, they often find it impossible to get back to sleep, which leads to that difficult to overcome exhaustion during their next shift. Mothers with small children face a similar issue as a child's interrupted sleep can lead to difficulties that affect the entire family.

Growing up, my mother's number one rule was never wake up anyone who was sleeping. She probably got that from my grandmother who was a nurse--and had the same rule.
