While everyone rants about Greenland, Canada is imploding. Trump may need to consider which is more important: an island that is nearly all icecap, or the neighbor that supplies oil, lumber, and maple syrup. Some new nation on Canadian land may later include Greenland.

It has been known for years that the Arctic is going to be a theatre of war in the future. Certainly in Canada we have heard the stories of Russian and Chinese ships in the region doing scouting and such I am sure.

Denmarks intel agrees and they wish to maintain their weak monarchy even if it means endangering the lives of the West.

Much of this is a worry about the U.S controlling more land Im sure, perhaps getting access to minerals. Its almost as if they want China to maintain earth mineral controls or something.

There is debate about the efficacy of extracting the minerals, but surely it can be done, if not now in the near future if more efficient technology is needed.
