LOL....Those things (especially the smaller ones) mangled more young people than Polio.....But damn they were fun!

I was a young man when I bought one of the above for hunting.

I only flipped it once. Putting along on level ground on top of a ridge and one of the rear tires dropped into a hole filled with leaves that I did not see.....Boom! Ass over teacup I went!

In '92 I traded it in and bought a Honda 300 4X4 four-wheeler for the same purpose.....Still got what I paid for the 3-wheeler!

When I was young, I rode on the back of my boyfriend’s motorcycle.

I remember my parents were not too happy that he had a motorcycle and said to me “we better not hear that you’ve been riding in the back of that death machine!”

So I made sure that they didn’t hear about it.

I picked up one of those 6 years ago and got it running. One day about 2 miles from home it died, and I traced it to the magneto. I proceeded to walk to the house where I had another one. When I got back it was gone. A few days later I saw a medivac helicopter and later heard someone was killed when they flipped a three wheeler.
Talk about kharma.....

Unsafe at any speed. :)

Couldn't agree more. I grew up on dirt bikes, but those three wheelers were leg breakers.

Should have followed up and got your bike back.....Seems more than odd you didn't.

I did, but the axle was bent. It ended up in my personal scrap yard.

I bet I would not have flipped mine had I not been going so slow....Walking speed maybe.
Coming from a motorcycle is especially bad because, on motorcycle, the first thing you do when things get dicey and you're going slow, is put your leg down for balance. On a three wheeler, you just ran over your leg.

I was net even going as fast as this guy!

I remember riding in the back of my dad's pickup. Without a helmet!!! Or a seat belt, or an air bag --- and wearing no mask!!

A bent axle is nothing, easy fix.

Just checked....There's a shit-ton of parts on eBay.
Yeah I know that. But after it became a death cycle I lost interest. It was not that great to ride either. Besides, I have a couple of quads and a side by side, as well as a few dirt bikes and a couple street bikes.
You can never have too many motorcycles or guns.

Never liked the quads much either. Always felt like driving a car, sitting on the roof. But they're a lot safer than three wheelers.

I had a Big Red when i lived in the country, a neighbor had one of the yellow Yamaha 3 wheelers and I could not keep up with him. Once a friend was riding his (the Yamaha) and clearly didn't know how to ride one, went over the handlebars and into a cornfield, and was clearly concussed, he got up stumbling and was his speech was slurred, none of us gave it a second thought. I still remember how he was walking and talking, and no one ever mentioned that you might have a concussion, we never even discussed it.

I never had one, as I grew up on four wheelers and dirt bikes. But I have driven one. I only did it once lol

We had two on the tree ranch...The only time I flipped one over was when giving it too much throttle climbing a steep hill...Otherwise, I had the motion dynamics of riding a powered trike figured out the first hour of riding it, and didn't push the envelope after that.

Was definitely the motorized Darwin effect separator.

All I have now is a Polaris ATP 500.....And I got that to mainly plow snow and tool about on my river property.

Like this one except it's blue....It's right much of a brute and if I could have found one at the time I would have preferred another Honda 300 w/plow as it did everything I needed it to do.

Neighbors much older brother bought one of these after getting out of the Navy. He would pull us around the neighborhood on a toboggan with a long rope attached. What a BLAST. He made a trailer to with the same tires used it as a floating duck blind.

Oh hell yeah! One year a guy at hunt camp brought in one on a trailer and drove it across the pond!

It seemed it was not really made for the hardwoods though as it always seemed to get flat tires. I guess the tires had to be thin for the extra floatation but it was fun!
