Protestors causing more environmental damage then the pipeline would.
For months now, there's been a major environmental protest over the Dakota Access pipeline. From the beginning the protest was based on questionable environmental and legal justifications. Pipelines are a safer mode of energy transport relative to other methods currently being used, and over 99 percent of the 1,200 mile pipeline will cross private land.

Further, the protesters have often been out of control, engaging significant acts of violence, arson, and other lawless behavior. But despite occupying private lands indefinitely and shooting at police officers, the Obama Justice Department refused to support local authorities and clamp down on the protesters. Just last week, President Trump reversed course and approved the final permit for the pipeline to proceed.

Well, now we can add another dubious distinction to the Dakota Access pipeline protest. The environmental protest itself has become an environmental disaster:

Officials fear the camp near the Cannonball River will soon flood due to warm weather and rapid snowmelt. They worry trash and debris left behind by people who have left in recent weeks might pollute the Missouri River and other nearby waterways.

"With the amount of people that have been out there and the amount of estimated waste and trash out there, there is a good chance it will end up in the river if it is not cleaned up," Corps spokesman Capt. Ryan Hignight said.

Local and federal officials estimate there's enough trash and debris in the camp to fill about 2,500 pickup trucks. Garbage ranges from trash to building debris to human waste, according to Morton County Emergency Manager Tom Doering.

It is hard to take such an environmental movement seriously when they thoughtlessly pollute the very rivers they claim they are trying to protect. And naturally, this massive, avoidable clean-up effort will be paid for by taxpayers.

The Liberals are causing more pollution than the pipeline would. What in the Hell are they fighting for?

A near perfect example of how poorly thought out and executed a protest can be. Nearly destroying the very thing they claimed to be protecting.

So let me get this straight. The protesters were there protesting a potential environmental disaster and in doing so caused an environmental disaster?

Anytime you have a bunch of people camping out together, there is going to be a lot of raw sewage all over the place.

I have camped out many times in past 50 years never left sewage behind. The barbarians could have at least covered it up.
