LOL....I'm watching it now....It's on Amazon Prime.

It is sorta weird, usually it's on TCM on D-Day.

I could watch it on Amazon on my computer but it's so dark it's hard to watch.

I never saw a happier bunch of German soldiers than those who surrender to us on D-Day. Many later became American citizens.

In fact, at the end of the war German soldiers and officers rushed to surrender to U.S. forces to avoid capture by the Russians. It was reported that in one case thousands surrendered to a single U.S. soldier.

Oddly enough there are very few photos of the invasion taken by German troops that day.

The D-Day invasion wasn't all about the winners. It was also about the losers...

The most famous of those captured was this Korean.

Supposedly forced to fight for the Japanese, captured by Soviets, forced into Soviet service, captured by Germans and pressed into German service.

Now it may or may not have been true but it sure made for a great story.

Apparently towards the end of the war some German soldiers had a saying 'If there are black planes in the air its Americans, white planes are British, no planes in the air its the Luftwaffe."
