I bought canned soup for the first time in years. I eat alot of salads so that is how I balance out the heavy sodium, low nutrient soup, though I do try to purchase "better" soups per se.

Just go on 'beans and rice' for a while. Prices will drop like a rock. You're welcome.
We eat a LOT of rice--I like it and actually prefer it over potatoes. I like beans as well, but I haven't mastered the art of cooking them to my liking, LOL. Probably never will but I love a pot of Portagee beans and linquica or chili or ham hocks and navy beans.

I make a Costco Cannoned chicken and rice casserole, mixed with a can of cream of chicken soup.

Cheap, easy and delicious.
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup is also the Bomb.

.

I have a ton of homemade broth and canned veggies from my own garden, so a pound of hamburger makes a sizable pot of soup.

We used to have a meal that was cheap and easy. We called it a hobo dinner and it was basically a hamburger patty cooked with potatoes and carrots in a foil packet. LOL, I thought it was something unusual but after a quick search, I found it has recipes---LOL, whoda thunk.
