Should we believe an anonymous MAGA poster or the FBI?
Attorney General Merrick Garland called the data encouraging and touted law enforcement efforts to target gangs, illegal guns and other issues.

From your article:
"Property crime also ticked downward about 3 percent in the nation as a whole, though in the Northeast and in large cities over a million people it increased by about the same amount."
"The FBI’s report was in line with the findings of the nonpartisan Council on Criminal Justice, which found that homicides were down an average of 10 percent in a survey of 32 cities over the year before, though it found violent crime still remained higher than before the coronavirus pandemic in many cities."
Now wouldn't it be interesting if PBS exercised sufficient journalism to identify exactly WHERE crime is reduced and where it is not? The OP is about Oakland and not 'red' cities.
From another source:
"Following the death of
George Floyd in 2020, residents in blue cities across the country put intense pressure on city and state leaders to defund
law enforcement, and adopt softer punishments for criminals.
Since then, crime in major liberal cities has skyrocketed, leaving
Republican lawmakers, residents, and business owners demanding tougher crime policies that hold criminals accountable and improve safety in their communities. . . ."
You cannot evaluate crime only on murders or violence identified as somebody being physically hurt.
