Does anyone have any experience with this?

Other than doing a screen capture of each frame and then building an animated GIF of all the screen captures, I'm not really sure how to do this.

Any suggestions? Any free way to do it?

Thanks

Gimp will compile animation.

I use gimp, but I haven't used it for conversion from video file to GIF. I assume that I would have to somehow load frame by frame into gimp.

Have you tried out any free programs like:

GIFWorks.com! Free Online GIF Tools

I've seen more than one person recommend it...haven't tried it myself...

Okay, sorry for not being on to answer this until now, I don't know which video editors do it for Windoze, but most will, even the free ones. They allow you to save each frame, takes up a lot of HD space for a bit (you can delete them when you are done of course). Just drop them in GIMP, as long as their filenames are in order GIMP will preserve that order with a drag and drop operation. From there it sounds like you know what to do.
