Israel exports a lot of groceries in that neighborhood....they have farms that others don't have. In some products they rival Egypt in production amounts.

Farm work is a LOT of work. It never stops....ever. livestock has to be fed and watered and so do crops. It's not rocket science but it is labor intensive and requires people with a willing love of farm work.
