Actually you CAN be fired for being a coward, for not fulfilling the responsibilities of the job you hold. You can also be 'fired' by the people who elected you in the next election for ordering your people NOT to do their job.

If you become a police officer, part of the job is putting yourself in harm's way to protect others. If you can't do that, GTFO. Go get a 'safe' job.

Force him to live with the fact that he cowardly ordered his men to stay outside ad allow unarmed children fend for themselves as they were being gunned down, as he ordered the only people who had guns who could do anything to remain outside, how he disciplined SWAT team members for rushing in to try to save lives, and how he ordered his men to defend him afterwards. Let him live with that until next election time, then let his constituents - especially those who lost kids in the shooting - decide his fate.

On at least 39 different occasions they had ample reason to arrest him, and that would have placed him in the NICS data base that would have at least prevented him from obtaining a gun legally. The school admin likewise could have seen the little shit arrested on at least two occasions which would, once again, have gotten him into the system. Every time they had a chance to get this scumbag into the system they protected him.
