COVID-19 will be here forever like the Flu

Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel appeared to agree Wednesday that Covid-19 will become endemic, saying “SARS-CoV-2 is not going away.” “We are going to live with this virus, we think, forever,” he said during a panel discussion at the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference.

Well, then, all of this crap of the past year has all been for nothing then. Let people get exposed in small viral loads to build up a natural immunity better and sooner and be done with it! As always--- survival of the fittest, the first rule of Motherr Nature. You build up a better society of people quicker and those that are going to die will die anyway, either way, meantime, the mechanics of society are not lost as well: business, economics, trade, etc., stay in motion to keep them working as mankind adapts.

A small viral load is likely to produce a small natural immune response plus naturally acquired immune responses provide even less immunity across different variants. From one who been sick with Covid, it ain't worth it. Get vaccinated.

Multiple studies have shown several things about natural immunity.
  • Natural immunity varies a lot with the individual.
  • Exposure to large viral loads which often results in hospitalization produces a strong immune response. Just as small viral loads tend to cause less illness and less immunity.
  • Immunity via vaccines produce a much stronger immune response across different variants than natural immunity and the immune response is more predictable than natural immunity.
How Immunity Generated from COVID-19 Vaccines Differs from an Infection

One thing to keep mind is that endemic diseases do not typically cause great disruptions in society over a long period, such as covid has but because they don't go away they become just another disease the healthcare system has to deal with.
Some examples of endemic diseases are:
Chickenpox and measles are endemic in most countries. Yellow fever and Malaria are endemic in tropical countries. Summer's dengue fever outbreaks are endemic in Hawaii.

Thankfully, as a nation we didn't do what Trump suggested, just learn to live with it. 241 million of us have been vaccinated. A combination of vaccinations, mask wearing social distancing quarantining, and common sense in regard to crowded events have all but eliminated the alpha variant which was responsible for the deadly wave last year at this time. Had the delta variant not hit the country last summer, the epidemic would be over in the US.

According to the NIH, states and counties throughout the country abandoned mask mandates and other restriction early last summer with our victory over the Alpha Variant which was just about time the Delta Variant entered the country. Today most of the restrictions and mandates are still not in place which is one of the primary reasons the Delta Variant has swept the country and killing thousands a day. With both Delta and Omicron variants in the country the U.S. reported a record number of coronavirus cases for the second day. These numbers are expected to continue to rise and likely lead to a record number of deaths January or February unless the country returns to preventive measures that stopped the Alpha variant.
Wrong again. Trump did warp speed. He is not anti vaccine. Most are now vaccinated and or have had the virus. So despite your leftist dance we are in fact living with it. 99.4% survival rate. You leftists are very dishonest people. What record deaths? Omicron is more contagious but less deadly?

Oh bullshit. You damn well know what Trump meant when he said we should learn to live with it. He wanted the American people to ignore the deaths, the overcrowded hospitals, the CDC guidelines. He wanted them to burn the masks, fuck the social distancing, and avoiding crowds which would stimulate the economy. His mistake was believing that voters would ignore the virus when it was still killing a thousand to two thousand a day in the 3rd quarter in favor of a major jump in the economy.

I guess you consider a decent job is allowing an epidemic to get so badly out of control that it will take years to end it. The most critical period in controlling an epidemic is the first few month and Trump totally blew it.
Yep. He meant exactly what we are doing right now. Living with it. Not locking down and hiding under our beds. The epidemic is global. By your operational definition no one did a good job. We should have never locked down. You’re just a hater and a very dishonest person. It’s much worse under Biden and he has Trumps vaccines. He is a horrible leader and very dumb. Just like his voter base.
