COVID-19 will be here forever like the Flu

Oh, I'm not curious about it; it didn't disappear. "Experts" simply needed to borrow those deaths for a time in order to convince you of something.

It's no different from them using the fraudulent PCR-test in order to convince you that conditions are worse than they are.
A PCR test or any test for Covid only tells you that you have a Covid infection. It may be asymptomatic or a very mild infection which is usually the case if you have been vaccinated. NFL football players that have been vaccinated may test positive and within 4 or 5 days they get two negative tests and they are on the field.

The design of PCR tests are such that they err more on negative tests than positive tests. This may or may or not be the correct political decision but medically it is certainly the right decision. The data I saw had the accuracy of the PCR test at about 95%

I agree it will become endemic just a the Spanish Influenza (H1N1) has become. Every so often it will reach an epidemic level. Like H1N1 we will most probably integrate a Covid vaccine into the yearly flu shot. I sincerely doubt that lockdowns and such draconian measures will be the norm for the future.
Precisely what Donald Trump said and was vilified for it. Interesting how hateful leftists like you are hypocrites.

I did not say Covid-19 as we know it today will ever be considered to be the Flu. The similarity is that they are both respiratory diseases and share a number of symptoms that are common with many repertory disease. However the similar ends there. They are caused by different viruses from different families, have different distinctive characteristics. Vaccines and antivirals that work for one do not work for the other and Covid-19 does far more damage to the lungs than the common flu.

Trump called Covid-19 the flu to downplay it's significance. It was not a medical opinion.

Trump called Covid-19 the flu to downplay it's significance

On January 26, NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci assured Americans that the Coronavirus was nothing to worry about. He said "The American people should not be worried or frightened by this. It's a very, very low risk to the United States, it isn't something that the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about." The CDC's Director Redfield agreed with Dr. Fauci's assessment, saying that at that time in January the information coming out of China suggested "they were pretty certain that this was not transmitted human to human." "Dr. Deborah Birx, the U.S. State Department's epidemiologist and part of the White House Coronavirus task force has said "The bottom line is we didn't know how contagious it was." The early assumptions made about the virus were done based on corrupted information from China. These top doctors and scientists are who briefed Trump in late January and into February about the virus and whom he relied upon in making certain statements about its severity and contagiousness.

Advisor to Trump, but your words were an attack on Trump. There is the FAU CHI downplaying it from the beginning.

Trump said “we have to live with it”. We are doing just that. Biden said “we are dying with it” and that he would solve that. Guess he had no idea what he was talking about. COVID is a type of cold. Correct. 99.4% survival rate.

It is false news because the statement is taken out of context. Fauci was carefully to quality his statements. Once by adding "at this time" and "the situation could change" which it did. When Trump first to referred to Covid-19 on Feb 29 as the Flu, the CDC had spread to US. In March when their were 100,000 cases in the US, Trump again called it the Flu and in the months that followed he called it the the Chinese Flu, Kung Fu Flu, etc as cases an deaths spread throughout the country.

I clearly remember experts proclaiming that Polio would be with us forever.

And no generation was ever to be free from smallpox.

Truthfully, they were right. Just wrong on how close to 100% elimination was possible
But I'm sure somebody in Wuhan is working on repairing the faults that left those little weapons fall into near oblivion.

Trump downplayed the virus by called it the flu. Today calling it a cold after 800,000 deaths is nuts.

After 200 years of small pox vaccinations, we finally irradiated it.

Polio has been eradicated in all continents except Asia, and as of 2020, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries where the disease is still classified as endemic. It has taken us about 65 years to reach this point. We may see it irradiate within 100 years.

We will not irradiate covid-19, not because we do not have the tools needed but because we do not have the will to do so. The same is true for Measles, Mumps, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, and a dozen other diseases. Once an epidemic turns endemic, the will to irradiate the disease wanes. Today, the lives of 3 to 5 million people, mostly children could be saved by vaccines all of which are available at low cost.

It is a type of cold. What else would you call it? Are we living with it? Yes or no?
I would call it Covid-19. Just because it shares some of the symptoms of the common cold does not make it so. Lung Cancer has many of the same symptoms as Bronchitis but we don't call Lung Cancer Bronchitis.

We are both living and dying with Covid-19. That should be obvious.

It's CORONA. 7TH STRAIN.

Lung Cancer is actually a cancer. Bronchitis is not. WOW!!!

False equivalency 101

Anyway. China unleashed it on us and Trump said we need to learn to live with it. Are we doing what he said we should? Yes or no? Why are you dodging this question?

Covid-19 is name given to the diseased caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 in the Coronavirus family.

B.1.1.7 is the Alpha variant
B.1.617.2 is the Delta variant
B.1.1.529 is the Omicron variant

Of course we are living the virus. The alternative is not so good.

If by "living with it" you mean ignoring it, that's not possible in a nation in which freedom of speech extends to the media. The only nation I know that has been successful with a business as usually philosophy is North Korea. The only media is state control and thus there is no covid-19, no vaccine and no masks. However business can't be as usually as trade has drastically drop off.

All he said was we have to learn to live with it and we are. You and your ilk vilified him for it and he was right.

If you check the Cambridge dictionary online, you will see the meaning of "to learn to live with it" is to accept a new but unpleasant situation that cannot be change. For an American president to go against the scientific community and tell the American people that the course of an epidemic that is killing hundreds and thousands of Americans everyday cannot be changed and they should live with it was detestable to not just to his opponent. The CDC and just about every medical researchers involved in infectious disease research disagreed. We had the tools to alter the course of the epidemic, we just needed the leadership at the top to convince the public to use them regardless of their politics. However, since Trump didn't believe preventive measure would have any effect other than damaging the economy, he not only did not try to sell them to the public, but at times he openly opposed them.

Telling the American people to just accept the epidemic and live with it was probably the biggest mistake of his political career. Did he really think the news media would just accept it and move on and when people saw the deaths rising and their hospitals filled to overflowing, they would ignore it. By Sept. Trump was losing badly in the polls and the major reason was his handling of Covid. He tried to shift gears but it was to late.

You’re dodging. He said we have to learn to live with it. Period. And we are doing just that. The rest of your post should embarrass you. He was losing because of the media bias and people blamed him. Now they see he actually did a decent job. You can’t even be honest. So pathetic.

Thankfully, as a nation we didn't do what Trump suggested, just learn to live with it. 241 million of us have been vaccinated. A combination of vaccinations, mask wearing social distancing quarantining, and common sense in regard to crowded events have all but eliminated the alpha variant which was responsible for the deadly wave last year at this time. Had the delta variant not hit the country last summer, the epidemic would be over in the US.

According to the NIH, states and counties throughout the country abandoned mask mandates and other restriction early last summer with our victory over the Alpha Variant which was just about time the Delta Variant entered the country. Today most of the restrictions and mandates are still not in place which is one of the primary reasons the Delta Variant has swept the country and killing thousands a day. With both Delta and Omicron variants in the country the U.S. reported a record number of coronavirus cases for the second day. These numbers are expected to continue to rise and likely lead to a record number of deaths January or February unless the country returns to preventive measures that stopped the Alpha variant.

Oh bullshit. You damn well know what Trump meant when he said we should learn to live with it. He wanted the American people to ignore the deaths, the overcrowded hospitals, the CDC guidelines. He wanted them to burn the masks, fuck the social distancing, and avoiding crowds which would stimulate the economy. His mistake was believing that voters would ignore the virus when it was still killing a thousand to two thousand a day in the 3rd quarter in favor of a major jump in the economy.

I guess you consider a decent job is allowing an epidemic to get so badly out of control that it will take years to end it. The most critical period in controlling an epidemic is the first few month and Trump totally blew it.
