Couple days late

Beautiful humanity story, a welcome respite from the dystopia that is this board.

Thanks for posting it.

Now if Trump posted that he wanted to go out to dinner with a new friend,
how many people would jump at the chance,
and how many people would protest and try to kick him out of the restaurant?

The best way I know to honor Veterans is to help enforce the
same Constitutional democratic values and protections that would
reduce and prevent abuse to make the jobs of police and military
safer as defense and preventative security. They wouldn't have to
engage as much in dangerous life-death situations if we prevented
abuses and sought healing and correction for problems at first sign of trouble.

The minute you see abusive, addictive or oppressive behavior even
politically bullying that has become the norm, address problems and solutions
directly and build community teams to stop it and fix it at the source.

Don't wait for issues to escalate expecting someone else to fix it.

If we all help create safe effective community relations where laws
and people are equally respected and involved in law enforcement,
we can fix problems before they become work for police, military or government to intervene.

^^^ Amen on not waiting for someone else to make the first move. Whatever is done no matter how big or small is something that wasn't already done.

God bless you and our troops always!!!

I suspect it's not just veterans who are alone. Old people in general are alone for one reason or another.
It's amazing, and sad at the same time, that a gift of kindness makes the news- (and I'm not looking for attention)
I am "old" and I am alone, except for my cat, but, I want to be alone. Not everyone does and not everyone has family that could alleviate some of the loneliness. There is a generation (my age) of people soon to not be anymore. Is it asking too much to actually go out of your way to be kind to an older person? If you're lucky, (or unlucky depending on perspective) you too will some day be older. They are History. Get their knowledge/perspective first hand. Don't rely on Historians to write their story which will serve only the injustice of ignorance perpetrated on younger people. You're living History, they *lived* History. Respect them for it.
