Well after all, for the party of the rich why would they even have to worry about earning minimum wage at all? That's for the struggling Middle Class and many others don't you know. But knowing that they, themselves, could not live on minimum wage, how do they expect others who are less financially fortunate than they are to live on it? when i got out of HS you got a minimum wage job unless you knew someone ....then you worked your way up the ladder getting better jobs with better pay.....is it different today?....

I don't think so. Even if you are unskilled, if you take a minimum wage job and work...you will be making more than minimum wage before long. The question isn't minimum wage, it is character, loyalty, pride and perseverance! I can't think of any job that doesn't offer raises...and they aren't even dependent on quality of work...only time of service.

The problem is that kids are having kids and can't survive. If they would learn to keep their legs closed, they wouldn't be in that situation. That is the problem of liberalism...they don't believe morals has an effect on society and the economy.

I lived on 5.15 an hour for the better part of a year. I fed and clothed myself adequately. The next job I had paid 8.25 an hour, automatic pay raise for already being proficient in that line of work. That should tell you to work for a raise, not demand one.

That's good advise for the GOP that thinks they CAN'T do it or live on those miniscule wages.

You know that's pretty lame coming from someone who advocates for people getting paid to sit on their butts instead of working--ironically for those very same higher wages you want.

Paradoxical thinking. Only a liberal can manage that. How can someone gain the benefit of earning a higher minimum wage if they are sitting at home receiving a welfare check from the government? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose?

Piece of cake. Husband works 40 hours at $8 = 320...wife does same...total 640...2560 per month...tight budget...but no one starves.

Min wage is entry level compensation for a job that nobody in their right mind would consider if they were raising a family. Small businesses risk their entire life savings establishing a business that they can be proud of and that might support their retirement. They have to work within a stack of federal, state and local regulations and deal with the IRS on a quarterly basis and at the end of the year they make modest profit if they are smart enough. Along come hypocritical liberals who want to force small businesses to pay their (legal) help more than the business can justify and more than the simple job justifies. Moderate corporations are faced with a confusing array of health care mandates that they can't afford so they cut back and fire their min wage help and sometimes invest in automated systems that replace humans. Is that the brave new world that hypocrite left wing lefties dream about?

No one is advocating people stay home instead of work. Do you honestly think (well I guess you really do with your pixilated way of thinking) that people would prefer to stay home and get breadcrumbs from the government when they would much prefer having a good paying job that would earn them enough money, insurance and benefits and paid vacations, to enjoy life and be able to do the things they really want to do?
