During the last 30 years the top 1% of Americans have seen a 275% increase.

Over the same period the bottom 20% has grown by 18%.

The top 1 percent made $165,000 or more in 1979; that jumped to $347,000 or more in 2007, the study said. The income for the top fifth started at $51,289 in 1979 and rose to $70,578 in 2007. On the other end of the spectrum, those in the 20th percentile went from $12,823 in 1979 to $14,851 in 2007.

The report also found:

—The top 20 percent of the population earned 53 percent of after-tax income in 2007, as opposed to 43 percent in 1979.

Any doubts about who's in control and what they're doing?

What? We don't have enough threads about this shit already?

And, apparently, it's now ok to quote from a report without linking to said report. Curious. Or maybe the OP is just an idiot? Hmmm.

This is good news. Looks like everyone is moving forward.

1979 Gold was 520$ an ounce
Today gold is over 1700$ an ounce

Thats an inflation rate of roughly 325% in that same timespan.

CPI in 1979 was 76$
Today its 227$

Thats an inflation rate of roughly 298%

Does that put things in better perspective for you?

Proof that 30 years of talking about "trickle down" hasn't worked.
GHW Bush was right, it's "Voodoo Economics".

Exactly!!

The Republicans have taken advantage of support from the bible thumpers and have completely destroyed the American dream. When Ronald Reagan began to borrow from foreign banks and funnel it to the richest people in America our freedom was first threatened. If the common man in this country doesn't man a major revolt we will end up back at the imperial verses peon age. Remember what the people who first settled this continent had revolted against? Remember how they sacrificed their very lives to overcome it? I suggest each and every one of you put a rich man in the sights and see how that goes. Hell...we don't have too much left to lose.
