Sounds like you're making the same mistake Darwin made ... "survival of the fittest" has no part in biological evolution ... all that matters is reproduction, not adaptation ...
Consider the lowly virus ... some say it's not even life ... yet we know it evolved after bacteria ... that's the virus' food source, so bacteria had to have come first ... a case of biological evolution moving form complex to simple ... viruses can't reproduce without a host ... and they gain reproductive advantage by using a host ...
