Consumer Confidence Has Dropped Since January. It Will Get Worse.

Just googled it, thanks for the heads-up.
"President Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common and benign condition that causes swelling in the legs due to blood pooling. Despite concerns raised by visible swelling and bruising, his physician has stated that he remains in excellent health."
Now you get why I call him Cankles.

What goes around comes around. Karma is a *****.

In January of this year, consumer confidence was 71.5.

By May, it had plunged to 52.2. From May 27 to June 23, it rose to 60.7.

The low point during the Biden administration was 50.0 in June 2022, which was the lowest in recorded history.

Consumer confidence is about to get lower.

Foreseeing Trump's impending hike in taxes (tariffs), many American importers ramped up their imports before Trump's tax hike was inflicted on them..

Eventually, though, those goods will be depleted and our importers will have to start importing again and pay Trump's tax hikes, which will then be passed on to all of us.

This has already started.

Shoppers are stressed, but some brands are raising prices anyway

Americans, up against tariff uncertainty and steadily rising grocery costs, are going to see some household staples get pricier in the coming days.
Procter & Gamble — the maker of Dawn dish soap, Charmin toilet paper, Crest toothpaste and Tide detergent — said Tuesday it would raise prices on about a quarter of its products starting in August in part because of the $1 billion tariff hit it expects annually.

P&G’s move could be a harbinger of increasing prices, including on groceries, household staples, apparel and electronics. While spending data shows Americans are looking for bargains, economists warn that such price increases will further strain consumers battling stubborn inflation, high interest rates, and rising personal debt and energy costs.

.
Some retailers have already started raising prices. Walmart, a bellwether for the industry and U.S. consumer, has targeted baby gear, kitchenware and toys — items mostly manufactured in China. Industry experts expect some groceries will soon follow. The Trump administration’s 50 percent steel and aluminum tariffs will lead to higher food and beverage packaging costs, such as coffee tins and beer cans, many manufacturers say.

.

I've been saving my grocery receipts for the past couple of months so I will have objective empirical data to study. I particularly am paying attention to the price of coffee and other beverages.

My utility bills have also been going up dramatically this year. It's unbelievable.

Ever notice that you anti-Trumpers are ALWAYS preaching from the crystal ball? You never live in the past or the present, it's always about your prediction of the future.

Trump came into office with 3 percent inflation. Something your cult continually ignores.

It initially declined, but has been rising since April and is now at 2.7 percent, which is why the Fed is holding interest rates steady.

The price of EVERYTHING: gas, food, insurance, interest, doubled under Biden AutoPen, but it “only” 3% (with adjustments)

After seeing Trump's many accomplishments, if you call them evil, I can say you must be evil. You're a democrat.

I hope you are wrong. Swollen ankles is not a good condition.
Trump has the best medical care in the world, I hope he gets his skinny ankles back soon.
.

Don't believe it. That's a picture of anyone in the world.

The left lies.

Period.

Trump said he was going to lower grocery prices on day one. You know, like he was going to repeal and replace Obamacare on day one...

How's that going?

Ground Beef Prices Are at Record Highs

Have you noticed beef prices soaring at stores?

U.S. inflation rose slightly last month as grocery prices ticked higher

This is just the beginning.

Left leaning U.M. had Kamala in the lead 52-47 just before the election> Should we trust U.M. to give us an honest estimate of public confidence in the economy?

Trump lost his first tariff war with China. Bigly.

We ended up with a record trade deficit with China.

Our trade deficit with Mexico also skyrocted.

As I keep saying, the true test of his protectionist bullshit will be our trade imbalances when all is said and done.

.

thank you -- facts matter

Trump and his supporters aren't the problem with this country. You're the problem, and I'm glad someone is finally fixing that problem.
You are delusional if you believe much of what Trump is calling "wins" will last long past his final days in office

Consumer Confidence Has Dropped Since January. It Will Get Worse.

It has been baked into the cake since 2008 ( and decades before that) if you follow the data and cycles .

The only interesting question is whether Trumpfy will allow the inevtable recession to materialise very soon or try delaying tactics .

Which is why he was so furious that the Deep State private club that you call the Federal Reserve did not cut rates .

Fast inflation and a wrecked dollar are pre-requisites for a Re-Set

ILMAO @ "my utilities have been going up dramatically "this year".

I guess the message of the OP is consumer confidence is nearly as bad as it was under Biden.

Did you expect Trump to erase the inflation under Biden in eight months time? When exactly has that ever happened over any time?

Recession would provide some relief, but then you'd complain about that too huh OP? "Trump's caused the recession, he's the orange-man bad".

While similar, consumer confidence is not the same as consumer sediment.

Actual consumer confidence showed a little change, it fell by 1.3 points in August to 97.4, down from 98.7 in July (revised up by 1.5 points).
