Do the guardians of "science" -- like the happy "reproductive justice" folks at the American Civil Liberties Union -- think this is "medically inaccurate" because no child can avoid having sex before graduation?"

Probably one of the biggest problems with sex "education" is that it isn't education, it's indoctrination. If they really wanted kids to know the truth, they would tell them the best way to avoid pregnancy and STDs is abstenance, and that homosexual sex increases the odds of AIDs and other STD's. You'll never hear of kids actually getting the straight dope from sex education.

It is rather typical of the socialist left to believe that without the government teaching people to have sex people will never learn how. How did people learn before public schools taught it? Maybe people never figured it out but then where did all the people come from? It is such a mystery. How did people learn to have sex before government schools? There is no way the average person could have figured it out because people are to dumb to do anything on their own.

It's not a question of how to do it. It's obvious that our teenagers already know that quite well. It's a question of how to do it without a lot of unwanted pregnancies and diseases.

You don't think a very basic and necessary biological function should be taught in school?

No, it should not. That is why we have parents.

Unfortunately, parents in this nation have been largely absent from their basic roles and jobs so sex education has essentially been forced into the schools. The children need to get the information from somewhere and the schools are it because the parents have failed to do so.

The problem, of course, is that 'sex' is only a small part of what they want to teach in sex education. 'Alternative lifestyles' and the like are lauded as sex education and this is where you start to get into problems when you leave parenting to the government.

At one time my sister came home near tears because the school was telling the kids that broken homes were so much better than complete families. There was a list of all the wonderful things that children get when they have 2 homes rather than one. Asinine in the extreme but, again, when you expect the state to parent this is what you get.

Is there a good solution? Not really - we can no longer expect parents to step in so we cannot eliminate sex and other 'moralistic' education to be removed from the schools but they do a an extremely shitty job at it.

I think if parents do a bad job at teaching sex then it is NOT the role of government to step in. You assume that parents should do xyz and if they don't then govt has to do it. The entire thinking presumes a goal as in this and this should happen and if it doesn't then the govt should ensure that it happens. It takes away an individual's right to exist as they want by taking away their ability to decide what that outcome is in their own lives. In my opinion, if a family didn't want to teach their kids about sex then so be it.

I don't really assume that parents should do XYZ - I ASSERT that they are obligated to. It really is not a matter of advocating for the government to step in - the reality is that they are GOING to step in as long as parents are absent ion their obligation. It is almost assured.

I don't want the government involved but I can guarantee you that they are going to stay involved as long as parents remain to damn lazy to do this shit themselves.
