Congress should go the Omnibus bill route to fund the government which would fund it through the balance of the fiscal year that is through September 30, 2023 as opposed to short term CR's, continuing resolutions, that just fund the government at the status quo level for limited periods of time. The primary and compelling reason is that an omnibus bill is the only way Defense spending will be increased by ten percent for this fiscal year which the bipartisan defense appropriation bill slated to pass calls for and the country desperately needs this increase in defense spending to accomplish two critical goals. First, to facilitate the American military and the U.S. military industrial industry acquiring and producing the weapons needed to bring about Ukraine winning the war involving Russia's invasion of Ukraine and secondly selling vital weapons to Taiwan and preparing America's military to help defend Taiwan against an invasion from China. The President of China, Xi Jinping, has indicated clearly that during his tenure as President he intends to militarily bring Taiwan under the Chinese Communist Party, the Beijing government's, control; the only way that will be stopped is if Taiwan and the U.S. government make it clear to the Chinese government that the price to be paid on the battlefield for such an invasion would be an extremely, extremely foolish move on the Chinese government's part - and both Taiwan and the U.S. government have a lot of work to do to accomplish this deterrent and they need to take this important step an omnibus bill will bring about!

The Republican House leader, Kevin McCarthy, is an advocate for the CR route saying on Fox's Laura Ingram show why would we agree to an Omnibus bill when come this January the Republicans will have the House Speaker gavel, implying control of the House further implying that the Republican Party would be able to pull off some significant cut in government spending in a future government funding standoff! I agree one hundred percent with Senator Patrick Leahy's, the senior Senator from Vermont, assessment that the Republican House next year will "never" be able to put together an Omnibus bill that will be able to pass through Congress and become law. It is not even clear that the Republican House next year will be able to elect a House Republican to the Speakership; the House Republican caucus has so many scary radicals that are prepared to burn down most of America to in their mind save it as well as many members who hold alarming delusional views on important issues! Like that Ukrainian officials are diverting the vital weapons America is giving their country for money to enrich themselves and America should stop helping Ukraine in the war because it is better that Russia win this war and get control of Ukraine than what they believe the corrupt Ukraine government to stay in power! Just look at what the Republican House caucus is planning to do with the debt ceiling issue next year they are preparing to subject the American people to another one of their games of chicken where they threaten an epic fiscal crisis over not lifting the debt ceiling to allow the Treasury to borrow money to pay its bond and note obligations when they become due unless Congress cuts federal spending to their liking! Sometimes a group's character is not known, the Republican House caucus isn't one of those groups; they cannot be trusted to fund the entirety of the federal government next year, the current Congress should do this necessary work and protect the American people here!

Bill needs to be punted to the new Congress. They don't have time to read it and the bill is being written by two Congressmen whom are retiring at the end of the current session!!

Ignorance on full display.

Are you saying that a bill should be read before passing it? Why start doing things differently now?
