Humans are the product of tens of millions of years of evolution for cooperative, communal, and collective survival.

You're describing socialism, not Communism. Socialism is the economic system (public ownership of the means of production) and it can exist just fine in a democracy—it, in fact, exists in ours. Communism is a type of authoritarian government that uses socialism for its economic base.

Straighten that out, though, and you're spot on. Practically no one supports authoritarianism.
