Here's a brief history lesson regarding the creation of Communist nations. The goal was to win over the masses. To do that they had to partner with factions they didn't like and make promises they knew they weren't going to keep. Once they convinced the overall population to go along with their scheme, they achieved their goal of taking over the nation. Once in control, they used the military and their own "death squads" to eliminate not only the opposition, but also the factions that they had needed to win over the people but really didn't align with their goals.
These new Communist nations weren't formed in the 21st century, but when people tended to dress similarly and got along fairly well despite having differing opinions on how a nation should be run.
Fast forward to the 21st century and you have a myriad of well.....off the wall lifestyles and ideas. The goal of Communism remains the same, lie and convince the people that they are being taken for granted, oppressed, vilified, and enslaved by corporate greed. That "they" will eliminate the class hierarchy of Capitalism and in a sense, they do. They eliminate the middle-class and very overt rich. What you are left with is a massively poor class and an "inner-politburo" that can jet-set around the world and dine and drink extravagantly at the poor's expense.
As to those who are told that they can have a universal income, believing that they can just sit around and play video games or watch television, because the Communists convince them that they are on their side, those lazy individuals will be among the first peoples gathered up and "disappeared."
