Yes, we have a nationwide affordable housing crisis. And that is what blows my mind. There have been strong proposals coming through Congress to address the problem. Trump shoots them all down. I mean come on, REIT's, stick to shopping malls and stay out of residential housing. Full stop.

But instead, like the OP, MAGA Republicans seek to create an issue that is not really there. I mean it is SOP, got an open market for guns, drugs, and prostitution, never mind the rats running around. Well yeah, the government is going to take your property. In fact, you be lucky they don't force you to pay for the clean-up.
