Marine Commandants serve at the pleasure of the secretary of the Navy who serves at the pleasure of the president. Some Commandants like General Krulak have guts and some are appointed politicians. The current Commandant General Amos is the first Marine Commandant who never led combat ground Troops. He was a pilot and judging by his inept (criminal?) handling of the infamous "pissing case" he is in way over his head and will cave in to any demand the crooked administration forces on the Marines.
